I just listening to him talking with nusser hussain.
He didnt say javed played well. He said - javed needed to score more runs, he played more than 150 deliveries. He started well, it was important for him to stay there as he did, but the last part of the innings, he should have scored more runs.

I think what he is saying is he will be happy with two JO playing and scoring 160/2 in 50 overs than taking risk. Good for him. I would rather prefer 3 more hours of sleep instead.

Given the current state of BD cricket, we need players like JO to keep one side intact. Without his contribution we would be all out before 40 overs for sure.
If we can score >200 runs constantly against Australia and England, it will give us a big confidence for sure.
How many times we scored more than 200 against Australia or England so far?
Don't expect, BD will play cricket like Aussie or England at this moment.

>> the others played 150 and scored 128 of it.
Make it 113 in 150 (the rest were extras).
You are assuming that multiplying it by two will give 226 in 50 overs, ignoring the fact that six top order batsmen got out at the other end. (113/150) * 2 will more be like 180 allout in 42.
Anyway, I guess I should leave the topic. I am being a little stupidly stubborn here

I agree with Tintin.Did you consider how many overs the rest of the top and middle order batted? You should factor that in to your calculation.

I am not saying that. Well we need somone to keeo the one end nut a got to admit that facing 150 and scoring 80 is pretty bad in ODI. Plus Aftab started to hit just becuase the pressure was getting too big and without Pilots winderful 42 from 43 bolls we would never have reached 200. Maybe you guys think that playing 50 overs and scoring around 160-170 is good. but i dont!

If our goal is only playing 50 overs without concering the run or a decent total then we are heading backwards. "200 is not a decent total in Todays ODI and specially not in a batting peech.

Basically what Javed did is good only if the person on the other side bats really well... Like Javed and Ashraful would be a good combination only if Javed can get the singles to give Ash the strike.

To be honest I am not the admirer of Javed but I think what he has done in this tour I have nothing but salute for him. He has done tremendous job for our team. Well his style might not be good suited in oneday game but we need him badly in our team who can hold the one end of the crease. We have lots of good striking batsman in our team, however, hardly we'll find any purely defensive player. People should think twice before criticising javed. Just have a look in todays score board and see how much run been scored by our attacking batsman? I think today's two top scorer javed and masud both are defensive player and helped to scored a respectable total.

Agree...... If you are picking just few words from his statement then it might appear that he is saying that JO played just perfect, but its not fair to just pick few words, is it?

I believe, after being bowled out for meager 139 runs while 15 overs left still to bat against Assuie in the last match, Javed's role was prevent the same collapse in this match. He has done his duty.
Please remember the contribution of Javed in the history making match against Aussie that we have won, apart from Ashraful's brilliant contribution. So, we should not make him sole culprit.
Javed has limitations, so does every batsman in our team. He knows it. He has really worked out for them. I believe, he will also work out for the striking rotation. I dont like his batting in ODIs. Its really boring. But I always admire him for one thing, he always tries to adjust him to the conditions. I am sure he will amend those things.

Even if Masud can score freely (42 from 43) in JO's presence under more pressure than the other stroke makers, then it is hard to blame JO solely. Please give him his proper respect and then criti_size him afterwards.

He said Javed should dispatched the short balls on the legside. There were a few according to the Hawkeye and on most occasion Javed played a defensive shot.

And if we have clone of 11 Javeds for one day, that will be great.
Why not have clone of 11 Javeds for 20-20 ? It will be 20-20-20 in that case. I mean 20 runs in 20 overs. That will be superb
