We could use a consolidator to really lend balance to the other opener position.
Ideally I would like Mushy at no.4 ( but he keeps wkts and no.4 might be too soon to bat after lest say keeping all day ). But, technically, I understand what you are saying and I also want what you want. So, 1 Tamim 2 Jahirul ( I have a feeling he will start converting ) 3. Ash ( huge X factor, he can swing the momentum completely ) 4 Mushy 5 Sakib 6 Mominul/Riyad ( when he plays ) 7 Nasir ( God send ?? ) 8-11 Bowlers. That line up mixes it up nicely.

What was that from Shakib? Aftr all these years has he learned a thing? One of the worst shots I've seen anyone play in test tricket in some time..

Shakib gets away with it because in his case, talent and ability trump his dumbness. Quite the opposite in, say, Sir Ashraful Motin's case.

Just 2 centuries from 15 50s is a poor conversion rate. Needs to work on his mental and physical fitness.

While conversion rate is an indicator it is not the only factor in determining mental and physical fitness. Ashraful has 6 hundred's and 8 fifties. Exceptional conversion rate but i would take a sakib over ashraful any day. You have to look at the stats as a wholistic point of view and not in isolation. Sakib's numbers are very good compared to bangladeshi batsmen and given the fact he is an allrounder and not a specialist batsmen his numbers are world class. The all time great allrounders of the world had similar batting averages and conversion rates. If he was a specialist batsmen then I would judge his numbers differently. You cannot expect one man to do everything. He bowls, takes wickets, bats, scores runs and is a decent fielder. The specialist batsmen in the top order need to worry about conversion and consistency. Sakib is fairly consistent in all facets of his game.

This

Gotta put stats in context rather than justify a somewhat iffy proposition through the use of decontextualized statistics. Holistic approach it is.

Totally agree. 200%

I would have liked to see an Anamul, perhaps he can spell Jaharul if he ends up failing, but I too think Jaharule is one breakout innings from being good by our standards. As is, he averages over 30 despite never scoring a 50. I too think Mominul is perhaps not cut out for #4 yet. With him its more a temperament issue since his technique is not bad at all. Anamul has the opposite problem, good to great temperament, but his technique is not up to par.

Who are the bowlers you would keep in the mix?

I'd take Robiul and put Taskin in for our next test series. Gazi and Shakib as the primary spinners with Enam being the backup. I'd keep Nazmul and Sajid as the third and fourth seamers respecitvely. We should forget about Abul, Zia, and Rubel. I think a medium pace all rounder would be a great addition. One who can average under 40 with ball and 20-25 with bat. Folks mention Alauddin Babu...I don't know anything about him, but that criteria is what we could really use. I want to see Gazi be a guy who averages 18-20 with bat. And I want to see Mushy use Nasir's off spin and medium pace a little bit more.

Can't believe what they again did today...we easily could have saved this test match...our senior batsmen again did the same thing again and again...this is unacceptable.

Wont say tamim "threw" his wicket away. He just trying to nudge the ball to fine leg for 4 but got a faint tickle only.

Mushy and ash threw their wicket, but to deliveries that deserved to be smashed

no one threw their wicket except for Mominul. It was either poor umpiring, good deliveries, bad luck
