#Seven players will play in their fourth FIFA World Cup™ and they are Claudio Reyna (USA), Oliver Kahn (Germany), Mohammed Al Deayea and Sami Al Jaber (both Saudi Arabia), Cafu and Ronaldo (both Brazil).

#USA goalkeeper Kasey Keller is the only player to have participated in the 1990 FIFA World Cup™ before missing out on the competition in his native country in 1994. Only Cafu, Al Deayea and Al Jaber actually played in all three earlier tournaments.

# In his fourth World cup appearance Mohammed Al Deayea has made 181 appearances for his country making him the most capped player of the World cup. Mexico's Claudio Suarez is second with 176 caps.

# Brazil on the other hand have appeared in all 17 of the past 17 World cups.

# Theo Walcott is the youngest player in the competition and will become the youngest ever goalscorer at a FIFA World Cup™ if he can score a goal. In the oldest stakes Tunisia's goalkeeper Ali Boumnijel (born 13.04.1966) will make it to fifth on the all-time list of oldest players.

# The average age of the 736 players taking part in this year's competition is 27 years and 4 months. In terms of oldest team on average, Czech Republic, France and Trinidad and Tobago share the honours at 29 years and 1 month, while Ghana are the youngest team with an average age of 25 years and 2 months.

# Japan and Mexico lead the pack for experience at international level with a team average of 45 caps, whilst newcomers Ghana are at the other end of the scale with an average 15 caps.

i think they referred as to make freinds with the rest of Europeand and the world..
Germany has been playing as a unified Germany since 1994, if im not mistaken..

But the ITS TIME TO MAKE FRIENDS refer to the Germans role in the WWII and henceforth invites the rest of Europe and the world to forget the past and renew their freindship...

Another interesting fact(not for this WC) :

The only person to have played both World Cup Football and World Cup cricket is Viv Richards - Antigua at football and West Indies at cricket. He was a member of the Antiguan squad in the qualifying rounds of the World Cup in 1974.

  • Shirt swapping was once officially prohibited in 1986 because FIFA did not want players to 'bare their chests' on the field.
  • Five teams have been unbeaten but not the champions in the same finals. Those unbeaten teams are: Scotland in 1974 (1 win, 2 draws), Brazil in 1978 (4 wins, 3 draws), England in 1982 (3 wins, 2 draws), Cameroon in 1982 (3 draws), Belgium in 1998 (3 draws).
  • The most common surname of World Cup players is Gonzalez or Gonzales.

A weird fact for you:

Ivory Coast goalkeeper Jean-Jacques Tizie only has one testicle after a collision in a club match.
