Mehrab played a very crucial innings and he is right up there with Raqibul who made this victory possible.
If it was Zunaid, things could have gone very wrong right from the start.

Give this guy some credits for keeping us alive in this series, he played really well. That shot which he got out it could have gone for four but just he couldn't manage to get enough elevation of the bat and couldn't managed to clear the fielder. But all in all he gave us steady start, otherwise we would have seen another collapse here.

After the very low scoring tight defeat by Zimbabwe on the 1st ODI, I think the Tigers are ready for another match. This game is very important for Bangladesh. One reason is that if Bangladesh loses this match, they will lose the series. On the other hand if they lose this game it will be Bangladesh’s 3 back to back defeats against Zimbabwe which is really shameful.
Zimbabwe’s innings: 160/9
Bangladesh’s innings: 164/4 (44.5)
Match result: Bangladesh won the match by 6 wickets.
Man of the Match: Roqibul Hasan
Toss won by: Bangladesh and elected to bowl first.
Zimbabwe's innings: Just like the earlier matches Bangladesh had a great start with the ball in hand. Bowlers managed to pick up 6 wickets very quickly (26-29-37-45-46-47). But then a partnership of 96 runs helped Zimbabwe a lot to gather a low but decent total. During the 20-40 overs I thought that the Tigers couldn't bowl like tigers. It was decent, but not great. Fielding was great as usual. Today Ashraful made the right decision to reserve a few overs of Mashrafe for the last part of the match. He took 2 wickets in the last over. Nazmul (3/28) bowled well in the opening spell. Ashraful used Rubel (2/29) in the earlier part of the game and that worked to.
Bangladesh's innings: The batsmen batted with responsibility. So, the result... win. Much needed victory. Six in the last ball to bring the victory. Thanks to Roqibul for his 50+ runs. Apart from Ashraful all the batsmen reached double figure mark. Mehrab scored 43 runs.
Players:
Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Mehrab Hossain Jr, Mohammad Ashraful(c), Raqibul Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Mahmudullah Riyad, Naeem Islam, Mashrafe Mortaza, Nazmul Hossain, Rubel Hossain.
Zimbabwe: Hamilton Masakadza, Vusi Sibanda, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Tatenda Taibu(w), Sean Williams, Keith Dabengwa, Elton Chigumbura, Prosper Utseya(c), Ray Price, Tawanda Mupariwa, Edward Rainsford, Graeme Cremer, Christopher Mpofu, Forster Mutizwa, Malcolm Waller.
Congratulations TIGERS

How many days cricket has been played in this stadium during last few months? It is not easy to keep good wicket if it is used such frequently. Probably BCB reduce cost of transmission by having all the matches at Mirpur. It is not good for BD cricket. Other venues like Khulna, Bogra should get some internation matches.

are you serious man??? they scored 32 runs under 9 over till Tamim got out. i this is THE BEST start for any team for this series and last tri-nation series(correct me if i am wrong). this is not a batting pitch where to bat is a easy thing to do. only Zim scored 205 runs against us once and Sl scored 210 against Zim. and these 2 matches were played on the diff pitch so far i know. but after that when they changed the pitch it was always tough to score. so can't say they did bad specially in this match. they always tried keep the run rate around 4. so it's a better start than other matches.

i think you can say that it's sporting pitch where both team got fair chance to do well. i am sure this will help our team to play overseas matches at least a bit.

we are forgetting one main issue here with our win over Zim(which was so obvious). the issue is, all of our batsmen who batted today but Ashrafool, scored more than 20 runs(Mushy came so late but still he scored 13 unbeaten with one 4 and one 6).every body got runs today and still that fool scored only 5. Shame on ya Ashrafool.

my first & last post in the match thread:
finally a victory against Zim.... cant believe we had to pray that hard to make BD play their natural game...
Mehrab Jr is the right option for opening batting for the time being over Junayed (hard to say for how long thought, cuz junayed has to learn how to bat from scratch with school kids bowling at him)..... and Mashrafee needs to bowl in the last overs (maybe he needs to get slapped to stop him from saying sh**s like 'I am not comfortable bowling in the slog overs' or 'amar pet betha kortese I need a CT scan on my knee').
Expectation for 3rd ODI: umm... we are done if we bat first.... our top/middle order is still not comfortable batting in this pitch. Now that 4 ppl are making the decisions for Ashraful.... there is absolutely no expectation from Ashraful.... his batting makes no difference... so I hope he shows up for the match.... we need someone to speak during the presentation ceremony....

Guys, chill out; if it hunts you that means you yourselves couldn't take BD as a top team. C'mon, we do slip in places, but generally we are no pushovers anymore. And these kind of chances we'll create every now and then, there are gonna be some thrillers coming up and front where we'll make the other teams feel the same way we felt by that heart-wrenching loss against SL, let's move on, things are just round the corner. Just take it as one of the games, like look at the same day even AUS lost a nailbiter against SA, do you Aussies break down into pieces for that? No, isn't it? Same should we be. Do regret, but for a time being

Congrat. TIGERS!!! Ash. is totally failure both as a CAPTAIN & PERFORMER!!! Look at Zimb. captain---- he is in the team as a BOWLER but batted sensibly in crucial time ---- Ash. should learn from him.

I've thought of Mehrab Jr as a minnow-basher in recent times and although he's not as good as SN yet, he's getting there.

in this thread i've been reading a lot replies like "winning against ZIM is normal, nothing extra ordinary" "BAN batted so slowly" "Ashraful is a FOOL" etc. I also think that Ashraful needs to work on a lot of stuff apart from his fielding.
BUT...
we r forgetting one important thing.
***THE TIGERS HAVE WON***
So plz enjoy and pray and hope that they can win millions of matches more.

Ash did some decent captaincy today, but lacked that aggressive attitude when williams and utseya were batting, if he didnt allow singles ZIM would have been cleaned out under 120.But a good win, disappointing batting from tamim, ash and shakib though they just threw it away, but I applaud rakib, mehrab and mushy today. Zimbabwe have really improved, and will continue to do so because they actually have sme determination and I must say its quite impressive.Zimbabwe's main key to their spirited fielding is because of their team chemistry, most of these guys played together for a long time now.
