Default PTCL has 1st innings lead vs BD \'A\'

Bangladesh 'A' were all out for 223 runs, thanks to Manjarul Rana's 29.

In reply, Pakistan TeleCommunications are on 265 runs for 5 wickets.

And at last Anwar Hossain Munir took some wickets - 4 wickets.

So you remind us again for the upteenth time. With all due respect muddaser, no one said it was weak (at least not in this forum). It would be nice if you could stop posting reminders on how the teams taking part in the Patrons Trophy and the Cup could've, would've, should've done better against BD A if all their star players were not missing from the competition due to national duty.

Judging by the Pakistani media reports, a lot have questioned the last minute inclusion of certain teams, and the somewhat expected performance of BD A has called into question the level of competitiveness of certain teams.

Default we have to see the outcome instead of criticizing

We needed to play an international league and that what it matters..we could have also sent our team to play in county leagues in England, Australia and other test playing nations. But I hope this attempt don't go in vain..surely we are developing experiencing facing pak bowling attack. But I would love to see them facing bowlers like Sami...He bowled superbly today also did Shabbir and Gul.

ockey i never said anything about this forum saying our domestic league is weak. in fact its fellow pakistani's who reckon the league is too weak since the likes of junaid zia and elahi get selected cause of their good domestic league performances yet they are crap in the international arena.

Is that only bowlers, muddaser? I mean, do only the bowlers perform in the domestic cricket and then cannot perform at the International stage?

If the answer is yes, then I think I can see why. Anwar Hossain Munir - the BD 'A' bowler who took 7 wickets today, I don't think he has the ability to take 5 wickets in an innings or in ODIs (I've watched him bowl against South Africa in an ODI), and yet he had taken 7 wickets!

Default Ashraful\'s bat finally sings

A brilliant century from Mohammad Ashraful and an unbeaten half-century by Rajin Saleh brought Bangladesh A back into their second match of the Patron's Trophy against Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) at the Karachi National Stadium yesterday.

Ashraful showed definite signs of returning to form with a superb 108 and Rajin was three runs short of his own hundred as the visitors reached 235 for four in their second innings, a lead of 131, when the stumps were on the penultimate third day.

Ashraful and Rajin got the act together after the home side scored 327 and captured three quick tourist wickets.

Opener Hannan Sarker was out for a duck while his partner Shahriar Hossain, who scored 84 in the first knock, made only 6. One-down Jamaluddin soon followed them after making 5.

But the innings prosper after that as Ashraful and Rajin put on 184 runs for the fourth wicket that not only ensured Bangladesh A wipe out the deficit but also placed them in a position of strength.

The pair batted for three hours and 18 minutes and faced 306 balls for the brilliant partnership after they conceded a 104-run deficit on the first innings in the morning.

The stand was brought to an end when Ashraful, the youngest Test centurion of the world, was dismissed on 108. However, the tourists were able to close the day on a high note thanks to Rajin, who was batting with command with the able support of Ehsanul Haque.

The tourists go into the final day with an aim to take the lead in excess of 250 and then bowl their hearts out to enforce a result. Otherwise, a draw will come to nothing since the home side ensured a three-point advantage by virtue of first-innings lead.

Earlier, resuming the day on 262 for five, the PTCL added 65 runs before being all out in the face of some fired up bowling from medium pacer Anwar Hossain Monir.

Monir, who took four wickets on the second day, finished with seven for 81 in his 26 overs.

thats true if you see our bowlers in the domestic league, the majority will be averaging under 25 in both forms of the game. its basically cause the majority of the domestic teams have a couple of stars and young players but more than half are crap.

thats where PAK bowlers improve their bowling averages which makes them look better than they actually are. look at fazle akbar who averages 19 and 21 respectively in the domestic league yet he looked below average in the international arena.

this is really one of the main reasons why Pakistani's prefer raw pace than meduim pacers.

from what shoaib akhtar has said, mohammed irshad is as quick as him and only 20 years old. he has already got into the A team yet he has only played 2 domestic games. so basically pakistan players domestic records matter little to PAK selectors.

Muddaser, we have similar problem with our domestic structure. Mediocre bowlers tend to do better, mainly because of the poor pitch conditions. In most pitches the ball does not come to the bat and the only thing you need to do is bowl line and length, and batsmen will gift their wicket if they try to attack. It's easier to play medium-fast bowlers in these pitches. Bowlers like Mahmud get a lot of wickets.........but most international players will consider them as bread and butter. I will be happy if our batters get long stint at the crease, the result is quite immaterial at this point........Hardly any of our batsmen get centuries in Bangladesh because of the slow nature of the outfield and the pitch. So if they get some big scores under their belts in Pakistan it will be worthwhile irrespective of what the opposition is. Although century against quality attack would surely be better. I noticed Saqlain is playing in PIA, so we might get some good opposition too.

This is a good sign for ashraful. It was a good decision to sit him down for a while and send him over there to regain his form and technique. He is going to be one of the most valuable members of our side for years. We must use him, alok , hannan judiciously...

someone pls explain the points system in this tournament. why do teams get 0 for a loss AND a draw - is that true? Crickinfo has no updates on stats and points - is there a Pak site - assuming Banglacricket doesn't have that info either unless it is published somewhere else.

hannan's string of ducks cannot be a good thing despite the big knock he had in the one day match. Rajin should not only get a century but try to get a really big score tomorrow. Chances are he will be out before 110 though. Ehsanul haque and Selim are two other bating failures who need some time at the crease. Anyway, it sets up an interesting finish - some of these Pak teams are getting blown away in 50 overs or less, this game can still be won.
