We needed something like 167 (not exactly sure) to win in the quarter finals of ICC 97.
When Bulbul was out, we were standing at a dire 16/4 and comes Akram Khan.
Played the innings of his life, the the captains knock, the greatest knock of 67*.

The rest is history.
BTW no one mentions Saiful (a fast ok medium fast bowler) and moni's contribution during that innings where they also stabilized the innings buy holding on to the other end and hitting those bounders when we needed which also let akram played his game and not to go for big hits... man i lost 20lbs during that game...

Too bad Athar Ali never played Test cricket. It has to be Bulbul now.

Without this we would have fallen behind a good 5 years for ODI status, let alone Test status.

BD team was very precarious in that game... vs Netherlands we were regularly losing wickets in a duckworth lewis applied match, but Akram stuck around and saw us past the quarter-finals to the semifinal vs Scotland, and then the historic final vs Kenya. Had this been a 50 over inning for BD, we would surely have lost miserably.

Gees, there was tension every moment of the innings... and we could feel it through the radio commentary.
Akram.
This single match is enough. Till date, we haven't won a better match.

aminul islam bulbul followed by minhaj nannu from the retired ones.

but to be honest, from the current bunch, both ashraful and aftab are more talented than bulbul.

I'll never forget Yusuf Babu's 78 NO against MCC in 1977. I was 10, watching my very first international cricket match in Dhaka Stadium with the whole family. I also remember NQ Lintu's 4 wickets, he was one of my late grandfather's students at DU.

I think Ram Chand Goala should be in the list. He was great spinner and played many many years. Are we only talking about national team players?
