Wasim Akram 'I have my doubts about Shoaib Malik'
Wasim Akram has a presence, and you react when you first see him. Bright-coloured shirts, designer glasses, the dense long hair - he retains every bit of flair that went with being perhaps the greatest left-arm fast bowler of them all. Not many former players manage to keep the charm they had as players: Viv Richards, for instance, has, and so has Akram. When he was playing, it didn't matter how many wickets he had taken: every new wicket brought him a child-like joy. Talk to him about how he would adjust in today's batsman-dominated cricket and the eyes light up. He has learned how to bowl slow bouncers, no matter that he doesn't need to bowl them; he gets excited when he sees a young talent; and he is still a funny young man, as this conversation - where he ranges from the art of reverse swing to captaincy to politics in the Pakistan cricket - shows.

Very interesting interview...
Some good points:
1. How they took care of the bowl to do reverse swing. Thats why i said we need either Waker or Wasim to learn these stuff. Our bowling coach would never know these things...
2.
We have to go by culture. When the coaches come to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, they make sure they have meetings for two hours. They should know that the attention span in our part of the world is 14 minutes. If you get into the 15th minute, they will forget what you told them in the first 14. I went through this as a captain, and I realised that the shorter the meeting, and the more to the point it is, it stays in their minds for longer. Coaches now keep talking, players go to sleep. Doesn't matter how experienced or how alert, inside they are asleep.
3. u can pick young fast bowlers but to pick batsmen they have to get experience.
4. Imran Khan was bets captain. No coach would even dare to talk to him when he was fixing problem of others (example he fixed Akrams runups)...

He recommended Mohsin Kamal. I have my doubts on what he says.
Recent Pakistani central contracts has a clause that the selectors will choose the final 11 at home. I am not sure in his time what type of contracts he use to sign.

Never heard this before? whats your source? I heard that Ashrafull (ACC guy) got those names from Ramiz raza and told that to the BNP Sports guy at that time and pressured them to hire them... and when those 2 got the job He got the ACC post like the next day (ok may be the month)
And Yes SI. I am sure he is a good coach in local condition but he never bowled out the nation so how will he know what to do in England or Australia or in Pakistan?

I get the impression that Shoaib Malik wants to reinvent himself as a cricketer and WANTS to be know only as a batsman. It seems like he's no longer interested in bowling. I have never read any practice report of Pakistan, but I would not be surprised to learn that he stopped bowling in nets. Nowadays, whenever I watch Pakistan play, I see guys like Younus Khan and Salman Butt bowling in those matches. What's next M. Yousuf bowling? Pakistan will suffer against the top 4 ODI teams if those guys keep bowling. Malik's decision to not bowl seems very selfish. It's as if he wants to leave his legacy as a pure batsman because he thinks that's what he is and couldn't care less about the team's bowling needs from him. He perhaps forgot that he came in initially in the Pakistani team as a bowler and recalled later as a bowling all rounder not a batsman. With captaincy, he gained the authority to make the decisions and Pakistan is suffering from his bad captaincy and decisions. IMO, Younus Khan should have been made the captain ahead of him.

Wasim had more skill as a bowler than Waker. We needed some knowledge transfer from these guys.
