Junaed scored those runs and doesn't deserve to be in the team. Agreed. SR do not matter so that stats has no meaning. Now Ash scored 0, 21, 0, 0, 1, 15* = 37 total in 6 outings averaging 7+. He deserves to be in the team. Ei logic ami bujtey parlam na.

Personally, I'd like to see Imrul open with Tamim. Yes his record in Tests aren't good, but he's been playing long innings in the shorter format and I'm hoping he'll be able to replicate some of that here.

Don't be fooled by Zunaed's one-off 50 against India. Good if he can do it again (i.e. play a 200-ball inning), but as far as I'm concerned he's a loser. Of course, he has age on his side and can become a long-term asset later on and all that crap.

I don't see any threat about Imrul's place in the team. He just needs some time to settle. I'm sure this coming tests he would scores some big innings.

the XI (even if Ash hits a majestic double century, not out today):

1) Tamim - will score his 3rd test hundred this series
2) Imrul - for the same reasons as ATMR stated, despite his limitations if he can just give us 50+ opening p'ships we'll be good

3) Naeem - lets see what he's made off
4) Raqibul - wtg, but lets hope he can cope with england's first choice attack (sans Anderson)
5) Shakib
6) Rahim
7) Riyad - i think he's less suited than Naeem for a top order slot, keep hitting tons, then we'll promote

8) Shuvo - ultimately we need to find who is best for 5-day cricket between him and Saqlain
9) Shahadat - good in home conditions
10) Shafiul - deserves a shot, but might just not be ready for 5 day cricket yet
11) Rubel - i expect him to curve it like waqar at 90 mph

12) Junaid - are subs allowed to field in the slips?

** why 3 pacers? unless you want to field enamul, razzak, or saqlain we've got 2.5 spinners in the side already (sakib, shuvo, naeem + riyad). but ideally we could drop a pacer for another spinner...all depends on which bowler is better suited to take wickets. given's england's weakness, maybe we should include another SLA just to give Pietersen some nightmares.

***Ash shouldn't be in our test side. should he do well in the 3-dayer, recall him to the ODI team, but he should sit out of our test side until he changes as a player (i.e indefinitely).

I would prefer Riyad to just concentrate on his batting. He could be a real gem for us in tests and hopefully if he performs in this test series then he should get promoted to #5. Although Shahadat is much better at home then he is away, I'd like to use 3 spinners and put the squeeze on the English batsman. Pietersens going to have nightmares.

I liked your team but 3 SLA isnt it too much?I would like to bring Naeem in place of Razzak.Naeem will give some bowling plus batting.

nayeem should play in place of Zunaed. if we are going to choke England with spin, we will 3 need full time spinners, part timers can help here and there.

OK, momet of truth, now that the 3-day match is almost over:

1. Tamim 2. Imrul 3. Nayeem 4. Rakibul 5. Shakib 6. Mushfiq 7. Riyad 8. Razzak 9. Shahadat 10. Enam 11. Rubel

I know they'll probably not play Nayeem at #3 and I know this pace attack is high-risk and I know 3 SLAs might be overkill. But this I think is the best we've got.

Is Shahadat an automatic choice? Why?

He has a big heart, it shows in his batting but in bowling the way he leaked runs at NZ....

I would rather go with one pacer Rubel. Now one can have enough spinners and alrounders.

Nayeem at number 3!! Are you out of your mind!! He is not in form for a long time. I doubt his inclusion in the team.

Is Shahadat being considered in test? Then why didn't the selectors give him a chance in the 3 day match?

According to them both Zunaed and Aftab are in the team. Ashraful can get in the team but not in the playing XI. Only on second test depending on how Aftab and Zunaed plays there is a chance.

The line up is,
TIqbal, IKayes, JSiddique, RHasan, AAhmed, SHasan, MRiyad, MRahim, SHossain, ARazzak/Shafiul, RHossain.

We should take Abdur Razzaq over Safiul Islam.

The report says Siddons will prefer more spinners on this series.

would def prefer naeem or raqib at #3 over aftab, junaid or ash atm. as far as shahadat is concerned, he's still not what he use to be, better line but still not a great one and his pace still isn't as up there as it was and he just just move the ball around enough to trouble good batsmen often enough. would probably prefer shafi or robin or someone like sajidul or subashis over anyone else, even though rubel has the pace i don't think he troubles the batsmen as often as the guys i just mentioned which is why if we went with just one pacer i wouldn't want to pick rubel.

Shahadat is actually much better on the slow low pitches at home. But he probably shouldn't tour outside the subcontinent until he has his head fixed.

is this the current shahadat that's still low on pace and doesn't have the greatest line/length? shahadat in top form is a good pick, but if you take out the 5fer against india he hasn't been anything special for a good while.
