People will now all celebrate Fizz and forget the contribution of IMRUL.
VERY UNFAIR.

Papon khaluji is better selector than moron Habibul Bashar, Akram, and Abedin.

Can't entrust two youngsters with opening role. If Liton is given one of the slots his partner should be Imrul. Ever since Soumya lost his mojo he should no longer be considered for top order role. If he's brought back he should play in the middle/lower middle order

I won't blame this fiasco on the selectors. IMO, Rhodes was very clear in his intent to bring some new top order batsmen after the Windies series. However, he gambled on Shanto on the wrong time, when Shanto seems to be out of form.
Imrul will never be better than a stop gap option. However the situation required him to be restored, thus necessitated the intervention from Papon.

I was giving credit to Papon, and then some user was debating that Papon had no merit during his tenure and to any of Bangladesh’s success.
As usual us Bangladeshis don’t give credit where it needs to be.

I would totally blame this fiasco on the selectors. They chose Mominul and Shanto, one debutant and one who has been out of this format for a long time and hasnt even performed consistently to earn a call up. Why put so much pressure on these guys? Someone like Shanto shouldve been giving chances against Zimbabwe and West Indies where the conditions, opposition, intensity... all wouldve been in his favor. Instead, we decide to throw him under the bus. I dont think its Rhodes... Rhodes had an upper hand selecting Mithun only.

For all of Shanto's batting failures he saved us around 20 runs in the field

Everyone giving too much credit to Papon. I heard from multiple sources in last 36 hours that, "team management specifically asked for Imrul, his inclusion was almost certain in playing 11 before he even left BD". Papon contribution here is just inclusion of Government (sarker). I am not sure though why Mash and Shak shown "Surprised reaction" but surely their reaction got support from many ex players and fans demanding papons head! It could be a tactics used and resulted opposition not doing any homework for Imrul today.

I like shanto, I think he has potential, but really should be tried against Zimbabwe not Pak and India during a tournament.

That would make sense in normal situations. However, Rhodes is in a hurry to sort out his top order options before the WC.

i wouldn't drop shanto. It will destroy his confidence. Soumya should not be in the team whatsoever.
Keep the team how it is. We are working towards a bigger picture here. Imrul in the team really helps when it comes to experience.
Think about this. If everyone performs how they are at the moment, and Shanto, Mithun add extra 70 runs amongst them, it will mean we can potentially score 300.

I am on the fence about Soumya. He also struggles to score more than 15 in recent years so he might not do any better than Shanto. However if Shanto has to play, then somebody has to speak to him about his approach. He got out in the same manner in all 3 games. It was very ugly to look at. He needs to find his scoring zones with proper cricketing shots expected of an opening batsman and not resort to mindless slogs early in the innings

he was getting bogged down. And plus he knows that early part of the innings is when they can score quick runs. Hence why he plays those poor strokes and gets out.

Thats very true. Kayes' contribution was extremely crucial and as important as the Fizz's last over. You cant compare both really, but sadly people will remember Fizz's contribution more.
