It's high time we start looking for other alternatives in wicket keeping. Litton has been around the team so why not check him out? Nurul is a decent keeper and can be groomed into a lower-order batsman.

Too much is on Mushi's plate and it is quite evident that it's overwhelming for him.

He needs a vacation. Nothing is working out anymore.
The team needs to focus, and the team is better off without him for time being.

You rightly rested your case .. If footwork is not a part of batting technics, then what? Applied "Fair & Handsome" or not ?

The rest were brought up by you my friend, go and read your own posts please. I'm sure you will find out why am I laughing !!

He keeps blaming the bowlers, yet forget to mention how many wickets he deprived them by dropping catches.

mushy played back to a short-ish delievry...just played half heartedly and bought it on to his stumps. Otherwise the lad has a pretty decent technique- his performance in aust/nzl and avg in test isn't bad, he must be doing something right...i don't see why there's a debate here...

edit: if anyone has bad technique it's probably anamul, at least in bouncy/green pitches.

Mushy is a very good batsman, I don't see why there is a debate here either, he's not in great form but players do have runs where they aren't in terrific form. As far as captaincy and his keeping, those issues need to be addressed.

Some useful Hints:

1. This sign (= ) mean Equal To the value stated on either side

2. And "Strongly Disagree" means you don't agree

3. So that means as per your post, "Footwork is not a part of Technic" or "Poor Footwork" is not equal to (=) "Faulty Technic"

Hope that will help

According to my post bad shot selection is not equal to faulty technique. You are reading it as a whole just read bad shot selection = faulty technique. Hope it clears the confusion up. Now dont twist and derail the thread anymore.

why be so serious and literalistic bro? just chill and send some love posts with regards to mushy...every now and then. moyna seems to have invaded your mind totally which leaves no room for love for others.

mushy, undoubtedly, has the best technique amongst the BD players. he ranks very high amongst all contemporary international batsmen. even great players have off season.

mushy has concentration issues hence drop catches. he might not have lightening fast reflex like khaled mashud but his generall gloveswork is quite decent. many here are just talking rubbish.

where we could fault mushy is for his dull captaincy and lack of understanding of his and opposition's strengths and weaknesses. but he is still very young for an international test captain. don't forget we had people like bashar before him. good captains usually dont grow out of a vaccum. hopefully he will learn fast and become a much better captain.

In internet posts, one cannot see facial expression. Unless one puts imocons which may express feelings a little bit. Chill I shall knowing you made those comments about me lightheartedly. That is all it matters.

Mushy safe for now but …

Mushfiqur Rahim’s role in the Test side will be under scrutiny this year. photo: star file

Naimul Karim
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan Papon has categorically said that Mushfiqur Rahim will captain the Tigers for the one-off Test against India next month. However, he also revealed that the board will fix a more definitive role for Mushfiqur in the Test team by the end of this year.

The president feels that the triple responsibility—batting, wicket-keeping and captaincy—is 'too stressful' for the player and that the board will discuss the matter with Mushfiqur.

“I personally felt that both the captaincy and the performance of our players in the last Test was poor. We are not happy. The mentality of the players wasn't right. One can't just hit the ball and survive two straight days,” Papon told The Daily Star yesterday.

“With regards to Test captaincy, if we can get a substitute, we will think about it. But at this point of time we don't have any. We feel that for a player to keep, bat and captain a side together is too stressful. For him to stand behind the wicket all day and then play a long innings… the whole scenario can become a little demanding.

“We would want to lessen the burden on him. It's still not decided as to how we are going to do that. But the obvious move would be for him to compromise with either one duty; keeping or captaincy. We will discuss the issue with him before taking any steps,” he added.

The BCB appoints the captains and vice-captains of the ODI and Test teams on a series-by-series basis. While Mushfiqur's roles as captain and wicketkeeper will be under observation, no changes are likely to be made prior to the India series in June.

“I don't think there needs to be any change prior to the India series. Let us see what happens. But we will definitely have to come to a solution by the end of this year,” said Papon.

Following the captain and the team management's decision to bowl first in the second Test, Mushfiqur, not for the first time in his career, came under heavy scrutiny from various quarters.

The move was described as defensive and was criticised since the Tigers had fielded eight batsmen in the side. While there was grass on the wicket, the team management had selected just two specialist pacers in the second Test. The entire game-plan, on the whole, came under fire later on.

In his defence, Mushfiqur said that they had played young Soumya Sarkar as the third pacer in the side and that things 'could have been different' had Shahadat Hossain not been injured.

The other decision that raised a few eyebrows was regarding Mushfiqur's keeping. The skipper had hurt his ring finger in the first Test and that compelled Imrul Kayes, a part-time keeper, to stand behind the wickets for more than a day.

While a section of the team management reportedly wanted Mushfiqur to just play as a batsman in the second Test, the skipper however, reportedly didn't agree to the move. Mushfiqur, who scored just 44 runs in the series at a

^^^ I feel that Mushy should continue to keep and bat in tests but the captaincy should be given to Shakib, Tamim or someone else.

Mushy is one of the most hard working player in the team; there is no questioning of his dedication. So with proper practice, I am sure he can improve his keeping and reduce # of dropped catches. But captaincy and strategic thinking is very hard to master just by practicing unless you are born with it. We need a new leader who can inspire the team..

Even the keeping job could be given to someone else, provided the person doesnt weaken the batting lineup.

He's been given enough chances as test keeper, why give him longer when the team is losing out. Get a keeper in there who can focus mainly on keeping so the chances get taken. For shorter formats mushy can still keep, although I really think we should find a spot for liton in the shorter formats and he can take the gloves in the shorter matches if he's better than mushy.

Mushy is not a good enough test keeper. In limited over he stays switched on throughout but in Tests he loses focus. That combined with the fact that he's never been a natural keeper and frankly is too short to have the sufficient range means that keeping in Tests is what he should give up.
