ICC Rankings Update: ZIM Stretch Lead Over Us
In Tests ZIM had a 15 point lead over us (34-19), but now their lead swells to 19 (40-21). Granted 21 is an all time best rating for us.
The bottom 4 teams are as follows (our realistic long term target should be to try and get to 7th spot by 2020).
7) Sri Lanka 90
8) West Indies 76
9) Zimbabwe 40
10) Bangladesh 21
Fortunately, a 3-0 TigerWash of ZIM this year should take us out of the 10th spot, but the lead will be marginal.
In ODIs, ZIM narrowed a 20+ gap and are quite close behind us now:
7) New Zealand 98
8) West Indes 94
9) Bangladesh 73
10) Zimbabwe 61

At the end of the day BD-ZIM bhai bhai...hehehe..19/20...one day tumi khau, another ami khai, at the end of the road amra duijoni lunch khelaam....
We should not fight Zim, we should embrace Zim, we may not have common borders between us, but, ontorey amra attio...BD-Zim should make a pact. There should be secret meetings between Papa and Chingoka....BD-ZIM should have joint military and pace bowling exercise, mission, camp etc. etc....run by our fav coach Pont!

Those two wins would have put us very close to West Indies. The SL loss still bothers me. 85/8 and we drop catches left and right, they go and post 190+. 125+/2 and we lose by 15+ runs chasing. That is just ultimate choke job twice in one game.

Nothing new though!
We got Sl 5-4 and we yet managed to put down ourselves by "batter" Murali!

We honestly belong where we're at. Hate to say it, but we're still a #9/10 team.
The WI and Zimbabwe tours will be a key indicator for us. The WI tour will especially be tough since it's an away tour. The Zimbabwe tour should also be interesting to see as well

It is mathematically impossible to reach #1 from #10, without passing by #9 first. Either they drop, we rise, or both. Thus ZIM's ranking is relevant to us. Once we get to #9, then we will work on #8.
