Exclamation Shahriar Nafis: The fielder

I know he has so much quality that this can easily be covered up (not to mention he has become my favorite player of the team in no time), but I'm just wondering....

Is he the worst fielder of the team? Dropping sitter... this is not the first time, but he has a bit of laziness in his attitude when fielding.

what do you guys think?

Well.. his career just started.. I dont remember him dropping many sitters..
Todays one was a bad miss though.. and I also dont think he's the best of the fielders..but still i think he's Okay in the field..not the worst.
Bashar is the worst. His dives are like..trees falling onto ground after the root is cut.

Good point to bring up Rubu.

Even though SN is exceeding every one's expectaion in batting, his fielding is nothing to be excited about. In some cases looked like he is un-attentive while fielding. Its not last game, its the general trend of his fielding.

Ususally the older players are the worst fielders and newer one are the better one. SN is kind of exception as he is still pretty young. Thats tell me, SN as fielder, is something to worry about in future. Lets hope somehow he rectify his fielding before it becomes a real issue.

Sakib looked good while taking Masakadza on the slips today.
Looked like Dravid..who is a good slip catcher.

If my memory is not deceiving me, it was him who dropped a very important easy catch (probably pontings) against australia.

Rubu..wanna talk about Rana's slip catching and fielding a little bit. Remember the test matches vs India?

SN is probably not the sharpest fielder in the field. Maybe thats why he was fielding in the third man area when he dropped the catch. Sometimes, the ball follows the weaklings. Hope he will improve but his fielding is the least of our concerns.

I wish SN becomes a horribly lazy fielder day by day.
I wish SN becomes fat and slow day by day.
And I also wish the lazy, fat and slow SN turns into an "Inzamam" for Bangladesh.

And the transformation started to work--I see a little beard on SN already!!

Babu bhai, I agree with you.

But I wish SN becomes Graeme Smith or Stephen Flemming for Bangladesh.

Both are very good fielder and are left handed.

Nafees' fielding is indeed not something to be excited about. But I dont think he is the worst fielder in the team. Shahadat unfortunately has to bear my tag of the team's worst fielder. Bashar's style isnt spectacular in anything, be it batting or fielding.. but he has been effective in both departments. n just a lil note on rafique : he is ageless. Still hustles and bustles like a teenager!

I wish the same things as you do...plus the following:

I wish he doesn't get out for obstructing ball like Inzi
I wish he doesn't come out and say "yaar...i really don't understand the rules of this game" like Inzi
And I wish he doesn't start chasing the crowd for calling him "ghumainna fuwa"

Rest are fine

Oh well what can you do, you cant have everything. Im just glad we have a decent consistent batsman in our team. Prior to his good run of form i bet any of you would have allowed for a consistent opening batsman who may be poor at fielding.

One thing at a time guys, one thing at a time, and time is what he has in his side.

The only reason I brought up this thread is that to mention that he has scope for improvement in that field. to be able to keep going up the ranking ladder, he need to work on this as well.

Haba said we have done well in all departments of the game! Please don't make me laugh Habibul. Fielding was poor, bowling was alright but the batting was poor also. How this guy can say we have done well? Idiiot mentality.

Did you see how our captan got out today? That was terrible! You just can't bat like that. It wa slike scooping some icecream from the box. I seriously think its time to say him goodbye for ODI's. In the same way Masud should go as well.

We won today because it's the 3rd string Zombies otherwise we would have succombed more early. Don't even dare to win against that pre 2003 Zimbabwe team with this performence.

The catch that Mash dropped wasn't Ponting's. It was a lower order batsman, and that was the key wicket we needed to win the first test at Fatullah this year. But it was a difficult one...as far as I remember.

I didn't watch today's match, so can't speak about SN's performance here. But as far as I could see, Saqib is our to be Jhonty Rhodes.

SN is very lazy in the field.

o remember he was really late in eithe in ZIM or in Champions Trophy
o Everybody already forgot that he missed 3 catches in the test against Srilanka in the same day !!

I appreciate his current form but at the same time he needs to be up to the mark.

It was Pointing, Rajib banged in bowled a short one pointing went for the pull gout under it and Mash lost it in the Sky and the rest is history
