Lightbulb Super 8 Match Preview: David versus Goliath

This is not a cop out, but this or any match preview against Australia is pretty much the same as my preview against South Africa with a few major differences. Australia is arguably the best T20 team in the world in terms of batting and fielding, and in my humble opinion, second only to Sri Lanka in bowling. In order to beat this team, the Tigers must avoid the smallest of unforced errors in all three departments, there must be a plan everything must go according to it, and some of our key players must have the match of their lives. Absolutely no hiccups.

So, here’s the link to the South Africa match preview, just replace some of the South African names with Australian ones, and keep in mind that the Aussie names represent significantly better players who are used to winning because that’s what champions do. We must outplay them to win, as simple as that.

Batting wise, they have Hayden, Gilchrist, Ponting, Symonds, Clarke, Hussey, Hodge, Haddin and possibly Watson as key players, any one of who is capable of taking the match away from any opposition on any given day. Any rare opportunity blown against any one of these batsmen will take us to the brink of disaster. The others in the line-up, especially Lee and Hogg, are more than capable of holding their own with the bat. Scary stuff.

Bowling wise, they have more quality and variety in their pace attack than the South Africans, and have slow bowlers experienced in this particular form of cricket. Lee, Bracken, Clark, Johnson, Symonds, Hogg, Clarke and possibly Watson can each bring-in a different in their bowling, effectively contain the opposition, and lure them into making fatal mistakes with their T20 experience and skill. Add to that one of the best fielding sides, and you have the monster only a monster slaying performance from our key batsmen can take apart and rattle. Perfectly balanced controlled aggression combined with the key to their batting success against the OZ attack. Every single batsman in our batting line up must play his respective role to perfection.

A tall order.

Having said all that, I sincerely think we can do it as we have done it before. If our fielders, key batsmen and bowlers are “in the zone” today by the infinite grace of Allah, and manage to play each situation on the field according the very best of their ability, nothing is improbable even against the mighty Australia.

... Jauy Bangla, Bangladesh Zindabad ...

Tait and Lee are No McGrath (who killed us in the 22 over match in the world cup) or Pollock who took out AA yesterday. I hope AA Continue the Kamakazi type batting cause I think it'll give us the edge we need

Hattrick!! If we sink we open the pandora's box for the opponent. When Brett Lee became so successful AUssie bowler in Africa. All BS.
