JS in severe quorum crisis
STAFF CORRESPONDENT
Quorum crises again plagued the Jatiya Sangsad Thursday with the presence of 37 lawmakers out of 299.
The fourth sitting of the 15th session of the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday began with severe quorum crisis which crept back once again after the interval for the maghrib prayers.
The sitting was scheduled to begin at 4:30pm, but there were only 44 lawmakers present at the house and the lobby. Rezaul Bari Dina, one of the ruling camp whips, was busy arranging quorum by running around the lounge.
After getting his clearance, the sitting began at 4:45pm with the speaker, Jamiruddin Sircar, in the chair. The day’s proceedings, however, began at 4:52pm with 59 lawmakers, one short to fulfil the quorum.
