Default (Bashar VS Bangladesh) vs India

Hi guyz, I have been waiting to say a few words about a certain player in our team, and thankfully found out a good source to say it. (plz read and post ur valuable opinions)

Its about our BELOVED ever SMILING CAPTAIN MR. HABIBUL BASHAR, who some of us still think should continue as a test cricketer. I m sorry to say to those people that if we do not change our pessimistic thinking then Bangladesh cricket will never go beyond a certain level. Our selectors had the audacity to drop Pilot before WC because he was simply not good enough with the bat and the team could not afford that on such a big event. I and many other people supported their bold decision and thought that finally the biasness and controversy is over as far as the selection is concerned. But we were rudely reminded in the WC by those selectors that it is still there and will never change. Every captain sets some examples for his players in a team and Bashar has not disappointed us by not setting one. He sets an example to other cricketing nations that a captain should never be like him. A batsman with ordinary technique and thinking, a bad fielder, a joke of a runner between the wickets (far worst than INZI), a sorry fielder and last but not least a PATHETIC Captain who has no idea about adapting to different situations. A player would not like to be like him even during the lowest point of his career. Bashar let some of the game slip by his hands during the world Cup. I can write a report on Bashar’s pathetic cricket during World Cup but would like to talk about the games on 10th & 12th of May against INDIA.

Bangladesh were well set to win their second game on the trot against the mighty Indians but look who had different ideas. No it wasn’t Dhoni, it wasn’t Kartik, it was our captain who performed a magic and snatched a painful defeat from the jaws of victory. India were 144/5, reeling and Dhoni struggling with a hamstring injury. But our ever smiling (behaya) captain had different ideas. He just let the game drift by posting 4 fielders inside the circle. Why on earth should any captain do that?? Why?? The team was in a position to strangle India to submission but Bashar’s bad captaincy let them off the mat. How many times did we see Kartik sweep our spinners through midwicket and pick up easy ones and twos?? But our captain was simply afraid to bring players inside the ring and put pressure. The Indian batsman simply did not have the courage to go over the top at that point of the game. Picking up ones and twos was their aim till the 40th over. And our captain made it all so easy for them by posting a field as if we were defending 290 instead of 250. I thought 250 was more than enough under those conditions and our bowlers did not bowl badly at all. Sahadat Hossain and Rasel’s bowling was average and they were not at all the reason why Bangladesh lost the match. But our captain made them the scapegoat by saying we missed Mashrafe. But someone should remind him that bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals and it was the captain’s job to take the right decisions as the situation demanded. The second he put 4 fielders inside the circle the inevitable was on the cards. How many fours did Dhoni hit during his match winning knock of 90?? How many fours did Kartik hit during is 50 odd?? They did not even have the intentions of hitting boundaries because they were presented with the easiest of options to pick up singles. HA BA Sumon just waited for things to happen rather than making it happen for his team as we have seen all throughout the WC.

On 12th of May we saw the other side of Mr. Bashar which was as pathetic as his captaincy the other day.His batting was absolutely disgraceful. He could not get bat on ball and forced Aftab & Mushfiq to commit suicide.Had he rotated the strike regularly then other batsman could have taken more calculated risks which would have surely put pressure on the Indian bowlers. But Bashar is a greedy man.He conceded defeat when they scored 284 and clearly had plans for personal milestone and wasted countless balls. If he took Bangladesh to a position where they required 80 of 60 balls with 5 wickets in hand than we would have won the match quite comprehensively. But it’s the money and his milestones that matters to Bashar. He wants to go out on a high by scoring 50s even that takes 120 balls and costs his team badly. What a shame, what a disgrace.

Bashar has been a long-term liability or we can say like a vicious cancer to our young and energetic team. Just not he occupies a vital position but also leads his team to painful defeats like the last 2 days with his miserable outings. He his consistently wasting a spot with his dismal batting show and captaincy, but our selectors are equally overlooking this crucial matter. Bashar should have retired immediately after the world cup but he did not. One can understand why he didn’t by looking at his unashamed character. But our selectors were also afraid to drop him for the important series. If players like Pilot can be dropped than Bashar should have gone a long time ago, but the selectors didn’t have the guts or were too biased to do that. Bashar should not be allowed in the test series for the better of Bangladesh team. And with no disrespect to those people who think we need the experience of Bashar in the test matches, I would like to remind them that test cricket is much tougher than One Day cricket. You need tough and aggressive character as a captain who will not let the shoulders drop after a poor session or will not give away his wicket as cheaply as Bashar does every time. The bowling changes and field settings has to be precise as well where Bashar serious lacks the knowledge of it. With Bashar, Bangladesh cricket will not go anywhere we will remain as the underdog forever with statistics reading 2 wins in 12 games or so. It is time for us to get rid of this mentality and utilize the quality of our young players that we have now to stand as a recognized team. Unfortunately, if we don’t then we have to make a habit of eating some disrespectful words from people like AJAY JADEJA and MANDIRA BEDI(& so on). Therefore, it is my kind request to our Board officials that get rid of our weaknesses like Habibul Bashar & Javed Omar, bring in other players, give them opportunities and let them make themselves comfortable at this level. Because we have to look at the future. We have to be a strong challenger for the WC 2011 & we have the quality to be a formidable side given that we utilize our talents properly and timely.

Cheers !!!
to our young tigers & their well-wishers.
