Default WC' 23 group matches NOT involving Bangladesh

I am pretty sure no one is opening each match threads, so I consolidated. But I expect ppl to open each match threads involving bangladesh and thread opener to bring some luck. Because I am superstitious. 2007 bd would have never knocked out india if I_knockout_u never opened that thread. That history was written no where but here .

Anyways.... I hope all the tournament favorites lose to Afghanistan and srilanka.

What a sad looking empty stadium. You would never see such ugly sight in football world cup. Opening match that too. Just a dying sport.

Absolutely shocking! I don’t think this would have been the case if it was held in Bangladesh.

It is really sad but I also do not expect any locals to go under the scorching heat and cheer for England/New Zealand when they can enjoy every ball with in depth analysis in their smartphones. No comparison with football tho.

Moreover, ODI consumes so much time in a day, it is economically not feasible for the fans to invest so much valuable time. Indeed a dying sport

The stadiums were almost full in every match when it was held in the UK in 2019.

Indian supporters are passionate cricket followers but only when their team is playing.

For some weird reason, the BCCI didn't hype up this ODI WC at all. No opening ceremony and clearly not *that* much marketing and promotion on Indian media either. Just as an anecdote, I had dinner with some Indian friends yesterday and one of them didn't know that the WC was being held in India (!) Some think this is because the BCCI is trying to diminish the role of ODIs in the cricketing calendar, but whatever the reason, it is a dispiriting sight.

One reason maybe England is more of a multi-cultural society. So you have the fanbase from all the countries. Also convenient/safe to travel for fans. Moreover, we need to consider the Pandemic effect/war etc etc.

They should have closed off the upper deck and give out tickets for free at door to create the illusion of full stadium .

80k stadium is too big. Cricket needs 20k max ground.

Also they should have had opening ceremony by some big artists ... ICC sucks balls. Warm up matches should be with local club teams amd not against each other .... need to shorten duration ..... poor planning.. they expect ppl to just show up just cuz it's india. For england I had email sent to me a year earlier for tickets.... India... 3 months before they had no clue who is gonna play where.

USA next year will be full stadium...if anyone traveling from out of country and out of state for ny games , u call holler at me then...

Tickets will be tough to get

Tickets was hard to get in England 19 because of diversity u mentioned above. But pandemic has nothing to do with this..there is actually pent up travel demand.

U mean the T20 one? T20 gets big crowd nowadays..people don't have time to follow a 8 hour game. Me on the other hand miss ODIs..may be this is the only format BD actually plays somewhat decent sometimes

No one cares about Cricket in USA. I don't know whose big idea is to bring Cricket in USA.

Stadium will be full. You read that here. Parts of major cities in USA is full of immigrants and first generation.

The games are strategically located. It will be full. Yes you can argue that if abundance was availalbe like a baseball season no one would watch it. Even baseball (true american sport) barely get fans these days unless it's playoffs.

But for T20 wc, i expect India, Bangladesh and Pakistan games to be in high demand and sold out. Other nations - not so much - they will draw few hundred baseball fans in long island perhaps that's about it..

i think it's a great idea.
