The right man!
Members on this board have been nototrious for jumping to conclusions prematurely and vociferously stating their opinion, and I, as a member for the last year or so, have been guilty of this act on more than one occasion. I guess that is what makes us cricket enthusiasts.
In the past I have been wary about Mohsin Kamal's ability to coach the national team and have dissented some of his desicions (namely promoting Kapli up the batting order and focusing on the metal, rather than physical, aspect of the players).
Looking back at the Kamal's tenure, I have to say that I did judge him hastily.
Given the circumstances- pressure from the media and fans, injury of key players, total disarray of the BCB, lack of practice grounds- I feel that he has done more than adequate job. He can spot raw talent, and seems to understand the limitations of individual players and the team as a whole and then come up with a game plan accordingly.
The following is an article from The Independant about Mohsin Kamal's expectations on the upcoming series:

Game Plan?? Hmmm
I have nothing against Kamal, but aren't you again judging him prematurely? Since Kamal took charge, He has been saying the same thing over and over again. "BAngladesh has talent", "The oppostion may be surprised" etc. Yet, Bangladesh was on the verge of making the lowest score ever on several occassions. Some were embarrassingly low had it not been for some gritty and stubborn knock from the lower order. I feel your feelings on Kamal's competency came solely from the 3rd ODI of RSA tour and perhaps for his "liking toward kapali" which was 'sticked' through the comments made by the members of this board.
That report on Kamal is nothing new. He always says that before any important game. First I thought it was his tactic to inject positiveness in the players but then his repetetive comments made me realize he is just an incompetent fool who can't back up what he is saying. After the match is over, his comments are usually "We are still learning." "This was a good test for us" "we are still learning" etc etc.

To be quite honest, I think you are both judging him prematurely. I think he has done a decent job. I think after this series, we will be able to judge how much we have improved since our home series against Pakistan early this year.
As for his comments, I don't really know what else he can say? He can't say I have an utterly talentless bunch of players. He has to say that they have talent and one day they will all click together.

True that he has nothing else to say after the game beside the usual. But it is not intelligent to make comments such as "Australia might be in for a surprise" prior to the game which makes headline at cricinfo. These types of comments not only brings up our expectations but also adds more embarrasment to the embarrassing defeats. I am not judging him at all, I am just saying he shouldn't make comments as a coach that he can't back up.
Another thing, what made you think that he is doing a decent job?? You can only say that he is a good coach if all the players who performed bad are performing well right now. The two 'good' ones Kapali and Talha are new faces. ANy player that is performing better under Kamal who didn't do well under that Australian Dude?? Infact, under Chappel our bowling and fielding was good. Now, batting, bowling, fielding - all sucks!

Re: The Right Man!
Let me state what I had said earlier:
"Given the circumstances- pressure from the media and fans, injury of key players, total disarray of the BCB, lack of practice grounds- I feel that he (Mohsin Kamal) has done more than an adequate job."
I really don't think I have judged the coach prematurely. Maybe you (Orpheus) see something to the comment that I can't figure out (no sarcasm intended). I made the comment about the coach's performance in passing. The whole point of the comment was that I had prematurely judged Kamal's ability as coach at the start of his term.
I don't want to turn this into a mudslinging forum but I feel should make a refute some of the points made earlier.
Unlike Trevor Chapell, Kamal didn't have the backing of the BCB, on his every whim. At least he doesn't play around with his laptop in the middle of the game. And about his comments before every series, maybe he does forsee an outcome if all the players play to thier true potential. Yeah, they are sometimes outlandish and maybe the comments instill false hope into the fans. I do think a very tiny amount of that false hope keeps us up at 3 a.m., following ball by ball text commentary, game after game, series after series... and that can't be a bad thing.
