I reckon JS knows a bit more cricket than you and me Murad. And I'm not ready to dismiss Mushfique just yet. He's still finding himself - the building blocks are there. His keeping _was_ better in Dunedin. Even after factoring in the fact he was getting consistent bounce unlike what he'd get off BD pitches.

Ok I am trying to translate it.
According to this report the problems of the batsmen are

1. Inability in their shot selection (which one to play and which one to leave)
2. Lack of comfort in short balls.
3. 5/6 guy have technical limitations. (some basic errors like "backlift" is also included)
4. Inability to hold the composure when the opposition bowlers continue to bowl in the right area.

The positive outcomes of Dunedin test are

1. Batting of the two openers. They left the ball wisely. I used to tell them from the beginning. They got bogged down in one-dayers. But it worked in test.

2. Bowling of Mashrafe Mortoza. He is somewhat prone to injury. But a good bowler.

3. Wicketkeeping of Mushfiqur Rahim.

His keeping was okay in the 1st Test but was worse in the ODI matches.

But now his main problem is his batting. Do you remember when was the last time he made a good score? I'm not asking for 50 here. He played a lot of innings after that match against India in the WC. He's the worse player against fast bowling. He's okay against spin though.

He should play better in the upcoming series else he will get the axe and play for A-team or Academy team. He was given enough matches to get his forms back. Look at other players, who was discarded in the past. How many chances they got to prove their worth?

How do we expect him to come in at #7 when the score is 50 odd for 5 and smack a century, being the 18 or 19 year old that he is? That's not his job - it's the responsibility of some of the more experienced guys in the team to bring us out of trouble so that the younger ones can play what they love to call their "natural game".

Bring him up. Let him bat at #3. See how he puts Ashraful/Bashar/Aftab to shame.

Who knows,, Nafis Iqbal can come back. He was such a hype when he came onboard calling the English bowling ordinary after scoring the century against them at BKSP. If only he didnt get injured and exposed some serious flaws in his techniques, Tamim couldve opened with him. Couldve been the Waugh/Boon/Otieno brothers. Nafis always supported Tamim,, the former got too much tangled with family, injury, form that he couldnt get back to a squad that was moving too fast...all the best to him.

1855: The End of the Basin Lake

A canal running from the waterfront to the Basin Lake at the end of Kent Terrace was intended for barges to deliver goods to Newtown warehouses. Wellington's miniature Venice vanished, however, when the 1855 earthquake struck.
The earthquake had raised the lake and prisoners were sent to work to turn the land into a public park. The Basin Reserve soon became the home of Wellington cricket.

Interesting history about Basin Reserve (Wellington). It used to be a lake.

I just finished watching ball by ball 1st test of day 3 on TV. Lots of members here said in other threads the Bashar played horribly and cudn't even block. Well except for 2/3 balls I didnt see any problem w/ his blocking or playing shots until he got out. But definitely he is not his fluent self like he used to. I dont think he will be dropped for the 2nd test. Dont think JS gives a crap abt his 3000 milestone. He will be picked because no one can is better at the moment.

Electronic? hahah, Electrequiem bro! And I haven't heard anything on the pitch yet. But the Tigers are a "special" team ... pitch type is totally out of the equation when they play, unfortunately

And that covers all of you! Good Luck to all of you, and the Tigers in particular!

...and something about the Kiwis here. It's a very well done video!

Very nice Match thread... Hope it brings the team some good luck and that Ash wins his first toss of the series. And also hope that we can be competitive and put up a good fight, no matter the result.

BTW, the team posted on the first page isn't the finalized team for this match, is it?

No, it's merely a probable team based on the team from the 1st test.

And I pray your wish comes true!
