I hope this won't turn out to be a "gache kathal, gofe tel" case.

From http://www.thenational.ae/apps/pbcs....708319900/1004

Quote:
“A three-member delegation will visit Sharjah later this week for further discussion,” said AJM Nasiruddin, the chairman of the tournament’s organising committee.

However, the extra obligation of the 20-over competition provides a further logistical headache amid an already packed schedule of events.

The Emirates Airline ProArch Trophy, which has become an established pre-season tournament for county sides, is also scheduled for March, after which the Bangladesh Cricket Board-sanctioned PCL could take place.

Mazhar Khan, the ECB administrator, said: “We still have to sit down across a table and sort out what we can provide for them and what we cannot provide.

“They have had approval from the Bangladesh board, but nothing has been finalised as yet.”

Sharjah here i come, it's home turf for me the uae, the conditionss, very humid, very windy, pitchh usually good for batting, since the soil comes from pakistan. And the grass comes from usa, so the outfield should be fast. Sharjah resurrects again!

Each of the franchises or teams need to enhance their branding. Otherwise there will be hardly any appeal. I though Zimbabwe's effort with their 20 20 was impressive. There was a buzz about their tournament.

True. The standard should be raised.

Gofe Kathal Gache tell

Tai to boli why there is no news yet. You never know the might even fail to strike a deal. Money might become a big problem. I don't know if the have such sponsors. Transportation of the teams, accomodation & cost of living there, will be completely additional cost. Hope they can manage it.

From Cricdb -

Quote:
“We are expecting a three-member delegation visiting Sharjah for further discussion and thing will be finalised within this week,” SCC administrator told Cricdb.

“According to our plan event is to be kicked off on March 27 subsequently after the ProArch Trophy which will be concluded on 25 March. There will be two matches per day under flood lights and first match start nearly about 1630 or 1700 local time,” Khan maintained. “Meanwhile they[franchise] only asked for one-time hosting but its all depends how the things move and if they want long-term deal we have no problem in this,” Khan added.

My guess, moving the PCL from Chittagong to Dubai is probably related to manpower business. BCB needs to be careful dealing these organisers. Yesterday's Ittefaq has some news on this.

There will always be skeptics. this move was beyond my imagination, and to be honest it still is. Its hard for me to believe that we can host a tournament which will transport/accomodate 100~ players/officials in Sharjah. But I hope for the best.
btw, lets have a look at the minimum cost :P
with 100 players, and at least a week's stay, cost on each player will be 1600$[ plane fare: 900us$, and stay 100$ each night]
That means 160,000us$ plus stadium rental/promotions/parties and so on. Damn, thats a lot of money

Well, it's a private initiative, right? I wouldn't be surprised if this goes through. Awed, yes, but not necessarily surprised.

So most of you didnt mention one thing: UAE has the most Expat Chittagong-ians and PCL hosting in Sarajah is an attempt to pull those crowds. UAE to Chittagong is London to Sylhet. If they can have 'Dhalliwood' awards in Sarjah and that's a sold-out event,, they can sure try the PCL to be hosted there. Who knows?

Nevertheless, I think more than the grounds, its an attempt to create a 'shock'. If IPL can move to South Africa, so can PCL move to Sarjah. The latter can create more hoopla as T20 is perfect fit for Sarjah crowd if there are Pakistani/Indian players in the fold. The real question is whether ICC will grant that permission and will the UAE Board give PCL the grounds.

Its interesting that Chittagong did it or tried to do it,,, what happend to Dhaka Metropoliton Comm? Why didnt they attempt such thing? Nevertheless,,, we wish this league good luck whether its in Sarjah or Shantahar!!

Well it's a good sign - we need our cricket to be a lot less Dhaka-centric than it is right now.

great.... only in the 2nd season and we were already going international....

Sharjah has always been a great ground, esp from all those childhood memories. I dont see why the tournament wont be successful...... but.... the biggest but comes from ATN's part. There cameras & cameramen arent exactly geared for covering cricket matches. as a matter of fact they are very far from that. I dont see that changing by next March... so even with all the international bling blings we are stuck with deshi standard coverage...

I hope this can grow into something promising. They can target foreign players not involved in the IPL (including Ireland & ZIM).

we should really think of getting rid of the multiple T20 leagues and consolidate to have one that is big and colourful with challenging and entertaining cricket!
