I am reading it differently than all of you guys. I do not think it's anybody's fault reading this from Isam's report on CI:

"He first complained of pain in his shin during Bangladesh's Test series against West Indies in November last year. He was immediately given rest and recovered in time for the Bangladesh Premier League, but he missed a couple of games in the tournament and afterwards was seen bowling off a very short run-up.
Towards the end of the tournament, Shakib was diagnosed with exertional compartment syndrome on his shin bone, a condition that can be caused by frequent running, and leads to pain and swelling. After the final, he admitted that his movement was restricted.
As a result, he was sent to Australia on February 20 where a specialist suggested he undergo the surgery to reduce stiffness in the injured area."

I guess Shak missed WI ODI because of the pain he had during test so rest was advised. He took his rest and felt better and played in BPL. But his pain was back during BPL which was why he missed a couple of games and bowled with short run-up. Since his pain was not going away he had to go for the final check up before deciding on a surgery. I am sure he was trying his best to not have a surgery, can you blame him? I am not sure if his problem could've been avoided with proper rehab without going through "kata-chhira" on his shin, most likely NO.

This is Enam and Riyad's chance. They'll have to shoulder the bowling and batting loads. For a while now Shak has taken his place for granted and that seems to have had an impact on his training regimen (read Isam's follow-on piece on CI and Sarwar Imran's comments). Let him see others do better with his overs and deliveries. Let him come back stronger and hungrier.

I hope Shane gets his acts together on Myshys below par captaincy...his unbeliable bowling rotation and over defensive fielding setup is causing more harm than good...Shakib will be missed severely...So far Shane failed create any positive impact on pace bowling

This was Sarwar Imran's comment if anyone is interested:

"The culture of the national team's training sessions has also contributed to Shakib's injury. I have observed that these days the senior players are not pushed too hard in training. I suspect that is one of the reasons for Shakib to have become weakened. Of course he is a very busy cricketer but the building blocks have to be in place. He used to be tough, but I think his regimen has changed."

BCB should not give Shak any NOC for next year or so, so that he will have ample time to short through his injury/stress issues.

Au contraire Eshen. They should give him all the NOC's he wants. Shak is someone who thrives under competition. Get in his way and ghaurami korbe.

Well, thing is that BCB have much more at stake than having to deal with ghaurami of one superstar. Shakib is still the only superstar we have, but there are other stars in making. We have seen our players finally adapting to T20. In a year or so, they too will start getting invites to play in different leagues around the world. Now, Shak has set a bad precedent of prefering a T20 league over his commitment to the national team. If BCB let this happen again, they can say goodby to any chance for us to have a stable team of our best performers in coming years.

I know this is not an unique issue, other boards (except BCCI, ACB, and CSA who are financially much more stronger than others) too struggling to keep their players stay commited to the national team. We need a collective solution through ICC. But, worst thing BCB can do (till that happen) is do nothing.

really disappointing situation. This was our best chance in SL and we don't have our best player.
