Default 1st ODI team announced

According to the DS report from Tuesday, here is what i can make of the team for the first ODI:

Javed
Nafees
Tushar
Bashar
Ashraful
Aftab
Pilot
Rafique
Tapash
Nazmul/Sujon
Russel

super sub: Rana

not clear whether Sujon is playing instead of Nazmul or if both are playing. Rajn and Raj are dropped from the warmup game. If we bowl second and Rana comes on for a batsman, we are fine. If we bowl first, the attack looks weak, esp. if Sujon plays.

Can anyone confirm?

Just wondering, from where Tapash is comming? I thought he was dropped from the ODI team. Is he replacing mashrafe due to his injuries?

it is better to play 10 men than playing chacha. i have good faith in part time bowlers like ash or tushar. at least they would not give 60-70 runs in 10 overs.
chacha is finished article; how long it will take to realize that?

According to prothom-alo they have announced 12 players+ super sub (rana) which means that they haven't announced the 3rd pacer yet.

One bad thing of the new super sup rule is that we can't use Rajin's (12th man) fielding anymore. He has to make the team as the super-sub to field. Right?

The result of the warm up match should put burden on SL to bowl first. That would help us on subbing Rana.

Pray and hope TB doesnot bowl too many no balls. Against England 7 overs 87 runs still haunting me. (Highest average in a single game in the history of ODIs who bowled 7 overs or more).

If chacha plays I have nothing else to say. He has performed greatly in the warmup match. 4 overs 26 runs and 3 balls 1 run c & b perera - he surely deserves a place in the first 11.

the thing with sujon is that he is the closest thing to an allrounder we have in the team. thats why he keeps getting selected (as bad as he may be right now). a decent allrounder is a must have in a good ODI team. i wish either aftab, tushar or ashraful would start having some success with their bowling. we wont need sujon in the team then.

It's great to see that Rajin did not get rewarded for his selfish batting.

we are bowler short...Rafique is not performing like before and our pacers are giving 60 runs in their 10 overs quota....lanka will go for a big win if our bowlers don't bowl with line and length...it was a bad decision not to bring bowling coach ahead of the tour and also hiring this physio seemed to be a bad decision.

I also concour with SS .Our Think-tanks have proven that they are not doing the right thing at the right time?Too much experimentation going on with this team.We need a wicket taking bowler not a run checker like Nazmul. And how long Sujon will travel with the team as a Tag ?

Except Chacha, the team looks the best we got now. Rafique needs to perform with bowl, he is not getting wickets these days.

all of a sudden our bowling dept. showing less penetration...indeed our BD team is very inconsistent in performance curves too...
If we don't bowl good we will loose every one of the matches with big margins.

he's never got enough wickets in the odi arena, and is only good in the test scene.

He's there in the team to tighten the flow of runs, add experience, and increase the run rate or hit vital runs needed, i dont belive he is a wicket taker in the odi game

Paul Close got bashed in both the Prothom Alo report this morning as well as the DS one. He doesn't seem to be that popular with the players.

I never know, such kind of thing! Chacha is the still hero and maximum MOM owners in BD Team, we should give him chance for a grand fare well in 2007 world cup tournament! And, till then he is a kye figure to encourage our young boys in the field like Bashar, Mashud and Rafiq all the senior players! He should keep continue!
Remember, Akram, Durjoy are all time Awami Supporter, then it is true after BNP they lost their JOB!
Or Bashar and current players are politically selected, simply NO!
To hold a position in the present team can be possible by Political blessings!!!
Cheers Chacha!

Only way chacha can be selected for the team is to replace Latif and make chacha as BD cricket manager and use his motivational strength to the team.

The best all-rounder in the side is A Ahmed. Don't forget his batting heroics against Eng (51) in the 1st ODI as well as his bowling performance against NZ (5-31). K Mahmud will do well in sub-continent conditions. However, without Mortaza our bowling attack looks very weak, esp. as Basiya is bowling sooooo badly these days. He's days are numbered, as players like Rajib & Russel emerge. At least the selectors are consistent with the selection esp. the batting, it was pretty much the same team as in the NatWest torphy in Eng. I saw Tushar play when touring with B'desh 'A' in Eng, he's still a stroke maker & suited for 1-day cricket, as for Test, let's see how he performs in the ODIs. S Nafees was on fire in the last 3 games with the 'A' side, so he's in good nick.

not exactly sure what you meant to say here, and i don't care if sujon supports the bnp or the AL or the JMB, please don't play him in World Cup 07. I don't want to spend money to fly down there and see him underperform. He is one legend we can say goodbye to!

Chach should not be selected even if he is a BNP-Jamat-Shibir, AL or Dr. Glib's supporter. He should be should be kicked out from the national team as soon as possible.
