Money machines for who?

All bpl franchises lose around a million dollars a season, BCB make few million USD profit (not much considering investment)

BPL franchise may lose money on paper. But in reality they are getting big bang for their bucks. And that's why there is a big line of prospective owners standing in the line for future franchise.

First BPL was a disaster for some owners. after that its pretty stable and good for the owners.

True but don't understand why teams like Sylhet and CTG have such poor foreigners

What's a competitive first innings total?

Dhaka has always been flat. Not a sporting wicket. Sangakkara made the easiest triple century here...just remember

Internationally it’s been flat or low turners back in the days. Not sure you’ve watched last BPL or watching this years matches at Dhaka? For bpl the curator seems to be obsessed with bouncy turning, slow low wickets.

Internationally it hasn't been flat for couple of years either

Pitches started off poor, they didn't finish all that well either, close games yes, but sylhet pitches were much better

Only the last few, early on it wasn't, we need to get exciting 170 matches, not 140 matches that'll improve our cricket

The last few games saved Dhaka leg of the BPL though

Typical BCB, can't take any criticism, however fair it may be -

Tamim served warning letter for criticizing Dhaka wicket
Quote:
The letter was served to the opener for terming the wicket of Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium 'horrible' after the match on December 2.

Tamim, a contracted player under the BCB, has been asked to explain why he made such a comment regarding the wicket.

The wicket came under serious scrutiny after BPL resumed hosting the last phase in Dhaka following the Chittagong round of matches, where several high-scoring matches were played.

However, Dhaka produced a low-scoring affair in the first game and both the captains - Mashrafe Mortaza and Tamim - expressed their displeasure regarding the nature of the surface. Tamim, in particular, was fuming.

"Always there is an excuse that this venue didn't get rest as it has hosted a lot of matches," Tamim had said after the game. "But this time, we are playing after a gap of 10 days. Perhaps the curator can give the best answer.

"It is disappointing for the crowd as they have witnessed one team making 97 runs and the other team struggling to get over that, requiring to go till the last over to complete the task."

Not a T20 wicket, but not a bad one: Mallick
Quote:
“It is not right to bring the curator's ability into question,” said Mallick when asked whether this has been a failure on Gamini's part. “He has been in charge of the ground for the last four years; no one questioned the curator when Bangladesh defeated India, Pakistan, South Africa and won two Tests here. If the batsmen don't apply their technique, it is unacceptable to blame the curator.”

Mallick seemed to lose his cool when told that such issues did not crop up in the Sylhet or Chittagong legs.

“I have told you this very same thing before, if you don't want to understand it, I cannot explain it to a crazy person,” said an irritated Mallick. “Here, a team has scored 205 and 97 [106] on the same wicket. I am not saying that it is a good T20 wicket, I admit that and in that there is a failure but we are trying to see if we can make it better. That is another matter, but it is not horrible.”

McCullum becomes latest to slam Shere Bangla pitches
Quote:
"I thought it was a very poor wicket," McCullum said. "I think there's a lot of very, very good, world-class players in this tournament. People want to turn up and be able to watch some of the best players in the world which allows them to play exciting cricket. But I personally don't think that was exciting cricket. I think the tournament can benefit from better surfaces than the one we just saw today."

"You can't trust the bounce and pace of the wicket. We have seen balls that have gone through the top. It is very hard to come in to the tournament as a stroke-maker when you can't trust the pitch. Of course, my performance needs to be better. But it will be nice to have a surface that is more consistent and has more pace about it."

Thank you for speaking up for Baz. Now hopefully BCB take notice as a high profile player has slammed it.

Need to dig this pitch up and line the foundation with bamboo rods. Then add new soil imported from Australia, or closer: South Africa. Keep some of the moisture in it as it is rolled, 5-10% moisture would be ideal. Top off with green grass from the freshly mowed lawn which is specially grown to supply the Mirpur wicket.

I have been involved in pitch overhaul during one summer holiday as a teenager.

Do BCB have the balls to serve a show-cause notice to Baz? No? Thought so.

Drop the theatre with Tamim.
