Default SL vs Kenya

The Kenyan batsmen are tearing apart the Sri Lankan bowling. This does not bode well for March 1st.

Kenya 75-2 after 15 overs.

Kenya scored 210 for 9! At this rate, I see little hope for us against Kenya. If they bat first, they will score in the region of 230 against us, which we will make a mess of chasing. If we bat first, we will probably get to around 160 which they will chase quite comfortably.

If Kenya wins this match, it wont be good for BD. I see only little hopes of us beating Kenya.

If kenya wins today (very unlikely) then they will play in super six, because they will win against us.

Kenya giving good fight:

Sri Lanka 74/3 (RR: 3.89 RRR: 137/31 = 4.42)

Another couple of wicket can make this match first real upset of wc03. Today I am watching the fighting spirit of Kenya. With this team we will never win with Kenya. Don't even dream it guys. Their bowling, batting and fielding is too good for us (the current BD team that is).

Default I think Kenya will win

119/7

Amazing stuff from kenya. ICC will now wish to take Test from us and give it to Kenya.

Default Kenya wins

If only our team could do anythig like this:
Quote:

A win by 53 runs, they do a well deserved lap of honour, committed
fielding and bowling, the fielding certainly must have saved 30 or
more runs
Sri Lanka had won the toss on this slowish wicket and asked Kenya
to bat, perhaps that was the decision that went awry?

End of over 45 (6 runs) Sri Lanka 157/10 (RR: 3.49 RRR: 54/5 = 10.80)
MO Odumbe 10-0-39-1 (2w) - City End
RP Arnold 25* (37b 1x4)

44.6 Odumbe to Fernando, OUT: Victory! a reverse sweep, gets it on the
lower edge, ball goes straight into the stumps and Kenya have
pulled of a major upset in this World Cup

Default Kenya WON!

They are now one of the serious contenders for the super sixes, assuming that they will beat Bangladesh. They will then have 16 points. NZ will have 16 after beating Canada and Bangladesh. The crucial games will be the two remaining SL games against WI and SA. WI needs to beat both SL and Kenya to go through. SA needs to beat Canada and SL to get to 16 points and tie themselves with NZ and Kenya. If SL beats SA and WI, they will go through along with New Zealand and Kenya, and WI and SA will not! That will be a bizzare scenario.

Default Kenya will be 11th test playing nation

ICC wont take test status from us but would definitely make Kenya 11th test member.

It would be an upset if we beat Kenya. I think Kenya would beat BD

Following the game between Kenya and Srilanka, made me depressed. BD was suppossed to play like this. I was jealous of Kenyan fans.

Kenyan Cricket is going the right direction. They deserve test status and they deserve to beat BD every time.

Default Thinking of a different note

And everybody was saying before the world cup started that Pool B is the easiest of the two pools.

Default Kenya should have been 10th, us 11th

That was 4 years ago. Now, I could care less about the infrustructure because evidently - kenya not even having a decent A team does not mean JACK. We have had the Best A team among the associates for many years (after Zimbs got test status) but what good did that do to us ? We have had regular league, regular tournaments but even teams like Namibia have come up quite strong while our batsmen have the Test player 'problems' but no the test player 'skills' or 'professionalism'.

The only people I am going to blame (besides the administration) are the players. They are the ones to blame. Every one has problems but in our case THE WHOLE team is out to sabotage the little happiness the people of BD have.

Kudos for Kenya for doing a great job. Shame on Sri Lanka for playing sloppy cricket - their fielding was horrible with the bowling being average at times. Not as forceful as it was against Bangladesh and Canada. If they played like this against BD and lost (not that our batsmen would have managed that) - some people would have SCREAMED FOUL. You know how that goes.

Wish our players were as noble (intention wise - wanting to succeed and playing for THEIR country and not themselves) and as professional as the kenyans and wish I was running a website for a team like that. Could have ben a much happier and more fulfilling experience.

Default Dilemma

Like everyone else, I want BD to beat Kenya. Unfortunately, that will only give our administrators the cover to keep on pursuing their misdeeds, and our players the excuse to keep on acting while playing, as though they have a sharpnel up their *** !!

What can we do ?

Default By the way

It could still be worth ALL OF OUR times if BD shrugs off WHATEVER problem they have and post a win against Kenya. Yes, it does not look possible based on the two teams performance so far and yes, Kenya will be dangerous in their home ground in the last match as a win will send them through to the Next round. An unbelievable experience and achechievement for any non test playing or NEWLY dubbed test team.

By the way, if they do beat us, they won't stop at 230, the Nairobi wicket is full of runs (Sri Lankans might disagree to save face) and with our bowling lacking - anything close to 300 with Shah, Tikiolo, Odumbe, Modi, Otieno and the lot is not impossible.

However, our batsmen might maintian their steady average and score anywhere between 100-120 and we might find ourselves (once again) cheering at the great achievement of reaching a collective CENTURY mark. Long live the Bangladesh team (expect Pilot - he is one of the good guys and amazingly - the only one who can match the Kenyans with experience - 50+ matches).

The BD - Kenya match is not in Nairobi. Its in Johansburg.

Kenya only got 2 games to host: NZ and SL .

They lost the NZ one due to walk over. Thus, SL match is the sole WC hosting game for them.

Default Talk about luck

They should have switched, feel bad about this but if they were given the BD and SL match in Kenya, BD would not have walked over and they would have had to earn the points against NZ. Now, everything just worked out peachy for them. SL played very bad, NZ walked over and BD will throw away any match whether you pay them or not.

Default Does not add up

The mis-fieldings
The lazy movements
The generally listless bowling
Kenyan batsmen easily running two runs when there should have been only one run.
Horrible wicket keeping
The worst throws at the wicket (none actually hit the wickets from any angle)

Did not see the batting but it was obvious was nothing much was done there.

Wonder why nobody questioned this match. I remember another match where every movement was scrutinized.

that one made me laugh tehsin.
but then, the laugh turned to sorrow and pretty soon, the sorrow turned to pain.

where do we deposit all of our pain and sorrow? where?

about why no one is questioning the SL-Ken match, the answer is very simple: kenya have given the test nations a tough time in a number of previous encounters. bangladesh, sadly, very sadly, have rarely done that.

on the other hand, grand conspiracy stories are a great way to deal with the pain and the sorrow. so yeah, i also want match fixing allegations to be brought against jayasuriya and co.

Default My Dad\'d view

He saw the kenyan match.... He was supporting the 'underdogs' he loved the way the KENYAN fought and thought they deserved to win the match.

In all fairness - kenyan's were running their hearts out during their batting - they were throwing their bats at everything, may not been too classy but then again, unlike a certain other team, their players could actually see the ball and knew ho wto put bat to ball. They ran two in place of one several times.

I bet they bowled their heart out as well and used FEAR to shock the Sri lankans. It's obvious that any test side would be afraid to lose to a associate side, specially after losing your top order with almost 100 runs to go.

tehsin, i saw most of the sri lankan batting. the match did not looked fixed at all. tikolo's field placing was effective, the spinners were great. the sl middle order had not hd a chance to play before and they were rusty. as soon as jayasurya was dismissed they unravelled.

i didn't like the way jayasurya did not even acknowledge the effort by the kenyans in his post game interview
