Default Favorite Movie Quotes

I was watching one of my favorite movies - The Shawshank Redemption - the other day and remembered 2 of my favorite quotes from there:

Quote:
On the outside, I was an honest man. Straight as an arrow. I had to come to prison to be a crook." - The Shawshank Redemption
Quote:
"Get busy living, or get busy dying" - The Shawshank Redemption
Quote:
"Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory, lasts forever..." - The Replacements
Post your favorite movie/Tv shows/Cartoon etc quotes here.

I have some movie quotation video clips. Some of my all time favorite movie quotations are:

Quote:
You have to do the best with what God gave you. - Sally Field in Forest Gump.
Quote:
Mama always said life was like a box a chocolates, never know what you're gonna get. -Tom Hanks in Forest Gump
Quote:
This is from Kevin Spacey in American Beauty:

I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me ... but it's hard to stay mad when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst ...

And then I remember ... to relax, and not try to hold on to it. And then it flows through me like rain. And I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life. You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. Don't worry ... you will someday.
Quote:
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies. - Tim Robbins in Shawshank Redemption.
Quote:

At sunrise everything is luminous but not clear. It is those we live with and love and should know who elude us. You can love completely without complete understanding. Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs - Arnold Richardson as old Craig Sheffer in A River Runs Through it...

best scarface line: "in america, first you get da maaneee, den u get da powerrrr, then u get da woman"

all time fave movie line, from Pulp Fiction: "I'm sorry honey, how were the blueberry pancakes?"

then "who's Zed? Zed's dead baby".

Actually that movie has some classic lines.

The Blues Brothers (Great source)

We're on a mission from God.
How much for the little girl? Your women - how much for the women?
Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Jake: Hit it.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (another one)

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.
You don't frighten us, English pig-dog! Go and boil your bottoms, son of a silly person. I blow my nose on you, so-called Arthur-king, you and your silly English kiniggets.
Sir Bedemere: "What makes you think she's a witch?" Peasant: "She turned me into a newt!" Sir Bedemere: "A newt?!" Peasant: "I got better"... Crowd: "BURN HER ANYWAY!"

oldie but goldie, from casablanca

Rick: How can you close me up? On what grounds?
Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
Captain Renault: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much.
[aloud]
Captain Renault: Everybody out at once!

and this one ... perfect for a Bangladeshi:

[as he goes to hand Renault a bribe]
Jan Brandel: Captain Renault... may I?
Captain Renault: Oh no! Not here please! Come to my office tomorrow morning. We'll do everything businesslike.
Jan Brandel: We'll be there at six!
Captain Renault: I'll be there at ten.

A few quotes from "The Matrix Trilogy":

"Hope....it is the quaint essential human-illusion, simultaneously the source of our greatest strength and our great weakness!"
------------------------
"Because some things never change... and yet some things do..."
-----------------------
"... if itís our time to die then itís our time to die!! But letís give them hell before we do that !!!..."
-----------------------
"Everything that has a beginning... has an end!.."
-----------------------

BTW.... I felt the first 3 is very appropriate for the BD team's performance!

Haha great ones Dr Z... here's my favourite part from Monty Python and the Holy Grail

[quote]
1st soldier with a keen interest in birds: What? Ridden on a horse?

King Arthur: Yes!

1st soldier with a keen interest in birds: You're using coconuts!

King Arthur: What?

1st soldier with a keen interest in birds: You've got two empty halves of coconut and you're bangin' 'em together.

King Arthur: So? We have ridden since the snows of winter covered this land, through the kingdom of Mercia, through...

1st soldier with a keen interest in birds: Where'd you get the coconuts?

King Arthur: We found them.

1st soldier with a keen interest in birds: Found them? In Mercia? The coconut's tropical!

King Arthur: What do you mean?

1st soldier with a keen interest in birds: Well, this is a temperate zone

King Arthur: The swallow may fly south with the sun or the house martin or the plover may seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land?

1st soldier with a keen interest in birds: Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

King Arthur: Not at all. They could be carried.

1st soldier with a keen interest in birds: What? A swallow carrying a coconut?

King Arthur: It could grip it by the husk!

1st soldier with a keen interest in birds: It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.

Movie. I've watched it over and over and over again. Like Blues Brothers, you can't get tired of this.

Edit: Although they did start out with a tv series for BBC (Monty Python's Flying Circu), which I didn't get to watch.

Well my favourite show of all is Seinfeld. Here are some qoutes:
"Hear me, and hear me well. The day will come. Oh yes! Mark my words, Seinfeld. Your day of reckoning is coming, when an evil wind will blow through your little play world and wipe that smug smile off your face. And I'll be there, in all my glory, watching, watching as it all comes crumbling down."
- Newman
"A short guy with glasses, looked like Humpty Dumpty with a melon head."
- The ticket lady, describing George
"I am going to save up every rupee. For someday, I will get back to America, and when I do, I will exact vengeance on this man. I cannot forget it. He haunts me. He is a very bad man. Very, very bad man."
- Babu, blaming Jerry for his deportation to Pakistan
See, the great thing about robbing a fat guy is it's an easy getaway. You know? They can't really chase ya!
-Elaine

great thread.. we should add occasionaly to this thread....

From Good will Hunting

Quote:
"See the sad thing about guys like you is in fifty years you are gonna come to the fact that there are two certainties in life, one - don't do that. And two, you dropped a hundred and fifty grand on an education you could have got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library."
That bar scene is awesome. You should go watch the dialogue 2x atlease

"don't do that" would make more sense Love that scene...we could all learn something from tehre.

Woody: You! Are! A! Toy! You aren't the real Buzz Lightyear! You're - you're an action figure! You are a child's play-thing!

Buzz: You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity. Farewell.

The Last Samurai:

"And you do not fear death, but sometimes you wish for it, is this not so?"

From Kingdom of Heaven

Balian of Ibelin: You go to certain death.
Hospitaller: All death is certain

[in the face of defeat]
Balian of Ibelin: What do we do?
Angelic Priest: Convert to Islam, repent later.

Guy de Lusignan: If I had fought you when you were still capable of making bastards...
Godfrey of Ibelin: I knew your mother when she was making hers; fortunately you're too old to be one of mine.
