Mashrafe BFF was supposed to be that guy for India, and lets not kid ourselves at one time he was that guy for India. He helped India Beat Every Team from Australia to Zimbabwe. He's a good batsmen too, No Offense to Mitchell Johnson who was the ICC player of the year. Ifran was head and shoulders above him.
DId India just overbowl him and kill his arm? Or was did the dead tracks mess with his head?
I bet Yousuf has a better chance at being picked for the ODI squad than Ifran right now.
India's Main Weakness is there 3rd Seamer and Sreesanth is way to wayward to be even trusted. I don't know how many more Years Zaheer has left in him, but Ifran has to be his left handed successor.
Is he just now there T20 Savior? And only gets picked for that format. Kapil Dev and Wasim Akram Comparsions aren't made just off hype alone, even if his career is done he can hold his head up and say he was a Big Part in LEading India to a World Cup Victory.
If he was SOuth African or English and got to play in more favorable conditions he would be on top of the All Rounder Rankings
he is only 25. others performed better than he did and therefore got picked ahead of him. he will come back anytime if he performs well.
part of the problem with irfan was that he started to focus more on his batting (so the rumor goes) at the expense of his bowling. everyone expected he will work hard and take his speed up to the high 130's from mid to late 120's. he didn't do it, in spite of people like wasim advising him to do the same. this was seen as taking it easy and playing it safe. it didn't go down well with the selectors. if his bowling improves, both in speed and lethality the door to the Indian side is still open for him.

(when he took hattrick agaisnt pakistan) i heard that one of pakistain boards had said that he was a street cricketer and then next match he took a hattrick
you are wrong. nehra hasn't played a test since 2004 and played 17 in all. irfan debuted in 2003 and has played 29 tests so far. this should tell you why he hasn't been picked since 2008. http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/...s;type=bowling
I watched irfan bowl in the duleep finals today. his speed has gone down to the 120 k mark ! he got 3 wickets with good movement, I'll give him that. but unless you hit 130 and above on a regular basis all that movement will be useless against good batsman. when he started he averaged just a shade below 130k. he needs to do that and some more if he wants to get back into the Indian team. somehow I get the feeling he is content with playing in domestics and IPL. the hunger to play international cricket is missing.

there too nehra has played 97 and irfan 107. most of those 97 matches were played before irfan arrived on the scene. nehra got a chance in ODI in the WI after a break of 4 long years on the basis of his domestic performance which was better than irfan's.

I would take Irfan over Nehra purely for his batting .
But in my books both dont warrant a place in the current team .India currently has a problem with pace bowlers , both Nehra and Irfan are not the answer.

I dont think i would call his smile "innocent"...
Furthermore Nehra's run-up is one of the ungainly that I have seen any bowler have
