New BCB president
BCB boss changed!
The Daily Star
A whisper snowballed all day yesterday that the government was all set to appoint a new president for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
But neither could it be confirmed from the government authority, nor by the BCB sources.
"We are also hearing this," was the common response from the people concerned.
And the name that came up in gossips as Lt Gen Sina Ibn Jamali's successor surprised many. The whispering was that Gazi Golam Dastagir, a ruling party lawmaker and a BCB director as well, was going to takeover the responsibility of the country's richest sports body.
Jamali was appointed the BCB president in July 2007 after the caretaker government had dismissed the executive committee of the board. A 12-member executive was also formed at that time.
As the board is gearing up for the preparation of the 2011 World Cup, speculations are also ripe that a change at the top is also very much on the cards.

Gazi Golam Dastagir would be better choice. He loves cricket and has great interest on this game. And he is the owner of Gazi tank club which is one of private running club of bd.

It's no surprise that BAL party can't tolerate an independent guy top of a powerful organization. It's surprising that Jamali survived this long!

Why? Is this because Mahbubul Anam is not strongly tied with BAL party like Gazi Golam Dastagir, Ahmed Sajjadul Alam, or Dewan Shafiul Arefin?

No. She may be my distant relative but I don't support her leadership nor her party objectives. Zia was my guy from the very beginning.
What of I have read and heard (interviews), Anam is full of talk. His talk also potrays he is all knowing. His work for decentralization is a sham. Decentralization is on a hold up because of him I think.

if this is true in this BAL era, he must be very powerful than I would have thought of. one person cannot stop this decentralization process though I don't believe there is any ... we don't have indoor facility at the six division yet, decentralization - long way to go.

Anam is a businessman, not a politician. I don't think it's his fault that politically run divisional sports bodies are corrupt, inept, and have to be supervised with every penny that are given to them.
As I mentioned in another thread, it's just waste of time and resource that BCB is trying to decentralize cricket through regional bodies. What they need is a B league (football) style nationwide club league.

agree with u. Decentralization of cricket may be too arrogant wants of BCB for current situation. I think they blindly follow what australia does. They should follow srilanka.

he gave a good kick in the butt to our friend ijaj from pak
Not that is the only criteria though; just used merely as an example

Ladies & Gentlemen:
I would like to draw your attention to post # 32 of this thread. Here's the paragraph....
Quote:
Yes, with the large sums of sponsorship monies entering the arena, the circus just begins. From the fallout of it, we might see a new BCB with non-cricketing greedy thieving politicians replacing all the cricket-loving faces. Tragedy is just beginning. BCB has just begun to compromise. At it's crescendo, we will see resignations, firings, raids on a wholesale scale.

Wrong time to change the President of BCB IMO. We now have lost the answerability of BCB for any possible mishap in arrangements of WC 2011. It is so ideal timing for the ne president to pass on every blame for flaws in planning, to the previous president. Where as it could be much better for us to continue with the current setup till 2011.

What Army has anything to do with game of cricket? Why "in Pakistan and in Bangladesh" we have to bring an Army men to run the cricket board?
We need to bring someone with strong management skill and proven love for the game of cricket (previous track record).
I don't know about Gazi or Kamal. But if they meet my criteria, I welcome this move with open arms.

Yes. Private individual is better than Army officer. Actually caretaker govt gave this position and other top position of different sports to keep satisfied those army men .
