I am A Ok if Enam comes in to the team. The West Indians look very suspect against spin. They don't use their feet against spinners and looks mentally scared to face spinners. Bowling a consistent line and suffocating length is good enough to pry a wkt out since they are unwilling to be positive. Neither Sakib nor Riyad spun the ball to a point that it became unplayable. In that regard, the presence of Enam is surely an added weapon thrown at them which is advantageous for us. If Enam comes in, I will swap Robin with Rajib, who at least will bowl a tighter spell in support of Rubel. I don't think we need two bowlers who are equally expensive. Rubel is the shock bowler with Robin providing the stock. Its OK as well if we play all three pacers, but watching this crop of West Indians, I am more inclined to include Enam for the very reasons I cited above, and swap Rajib with Robin.

i think Bd should play its best 11 which means Enamul in place of Mashrafi, no matter what bounce it offers, WI batsmen are good at playing pace and Bd pace battery is not really threatening to them. Even during the first test, it was all spinners who won us that and the pitch wasnt really helping spinners but more batsman friendly. Spinners can also tie down flow of runs.
My bowling lineup
1.Shahadat 2.Rubel 3.Sakib 4.Riyad 5. Enamul
Enamul and sakib are different kind of bowlers, sakib is flatter, enamul depends more on turn and is really good on 2nd innings.
For batsmen, Bd should play Mehrab in place of Rakib. But Enamul should still be in, Mehrab isnt a wicket taking bowler.

The man has spoken. Seeing that we played an extra batsman in the first test, my verdict: Mash, Ash, Rock out for Robin, Jr and Jr.
1. TI
2. IK
3. ZS
4. MR (VC+WK, about time we give him a string of games to make this his own)
5. MH
6. SH (C)
7. MR
8. SH
9. EH
10. MA(R, not M)
11. RH
3 pacers, 2 spinning all rounders, 1 specialist spinner and 5 specialist batsmen (including 1 part time SLA and the 2 all rounders mentioned above). Let's go, let's win a test series.

Corrected. However, we know this would not happen from these spineless selectors and team management.

CI says Nazmul in - we really can't afford to do that. Robin is a much better 5-day bowler than Nazmul from all evidence to date.

How can a person fly in and without match or net practice walk in to the test team when there are players ahead of him (Robin)?

I agree with you wholeheartedly, his bowling is very wayward, he needs control, if more players from the opposition complain, he might stop his screaming.

The talk that mashrafee will be replaced by mehrab in this test is worrying me... it should either be a spinner or pacer, not a batsman who can bowl a bit! This is 20 T20 cricket

I think not having the 3rd specialist paceman has been a liability to Bangladeshi cricket. Having Spinners on on both ends gets repetitive and the batsman figure it out that bit more quickly.
It also allows the batmen to figure out the Pace bowlers that much more easily. Having a third paceman will add more variety to the bowling attack, and will probably end getting Bangladesh closer to where they want to be.
I think thats the major Difference between a team like Ireland and Bangladesh. Though Bangladesh should really be getting better results then them, they don't because others have the variety in their bowling that a 3 or more spinner attack simply can't provide.
I don't think this is a question of the pitch, I'd be looking at the long term and where Bangladesh want to go instead of purely at this match. They should develop the extra paceman ,even if he is a technically inferior bowler then the spinner, and then simply go with the two best spinners they have. Although it might not help them beat West Indies yet(though they may well do, its not the best team I have ever seen) it should help them in the long term. It may not be what the fans want right now, but nobody will be complaining about a lost test against the Windies now if Bangladesh manage to establish themselves as the 7/6 best test playing nation in 5 or 6 years time.
I also agree that they shouldn't go with a part time bolwer. It simply won't work. It's not as big a risk in t20 as everybody gets hit, but in a test match I'm sceptical.
And yes, I probably havn't addressed the topic in the slightest, but I just wanted to mention it and stuff I guess.

The problems with this are
(1) Bangladesh does not have a second quality quick standing behind Masrafee. I used to love Shahadat to death, but he's turning into a slightly quicker Tapash
(2) Spinners of the same style from both ends gets repetitive - one SLA, fine. Two SLAs, ok, if you have to. But three SLA's is one too many. But a leggie in Ash, an offie in Mahmudullah and a SLA in Sakib, well, thats variety you can work with, and even better, all of em can bat a bit.
That'd be my attack. Shahadat, someone else vaguely quickish, Mahmudullah, Sakib and Ash.

Back in the time when India had real sucky pacers, they regularly played with three specialist spinners, even in away matches. They also played with two SLAs (Bedi and Nadkarni) when they did not have a leggie. What mattered most was that how poor their opposing batsmen were against spin.

Eshen, back then India was considered to be a very poor touring side. Those two are related.

well india have always had great depth in their quality spin department, atm the only proven world class spinner BD has is shakib. if you're going to play 3 spinners it's not enough to have one world class spinner and 2 other average spinners you have to play guys like murali and mendis to consistently be successful with that many spinners and so few pacers imo.
imo until BD can find a viable pace allrounder then they need to play 3 specialist pacers, there is enough spin in the BD team and in the back-ups with guys like shakib, riyad, ash, mehrab, naeem, shuvo.
pace wise rubel bowls 135kph+, sajidul consistently bowls 130kph+, robin can clock it up to 135kph. i believe robin is a very good option at current because he has good line and length, can swing it and can bowl quickish. sajidul might be faster on average but like shahadat he goes for too many runs (when he was given a shot in the test team he was giving a boundary nearly every over).
idk, i just think with the current BD team they're fine in the spin department with shakib, riyad and ash. if they really want another spinner they can play mehrab instead of raqibul, i think a 3rd pacer is necessary for variety.

Play Robin and tell Shahadat that he needs to be a stock bowler. 'Nuff said

If Bangladesh can come close to India's record from the time of the spin quartet, in next ten years, I will be pretty happy.
Here is India's away record from the time - http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/...m;view=results

Eshen, with all due respect, Shakib + Enam + Mosharrof (Rafique's Chosen One) / Riyadh / Whoever is hardly the eqivalent of Epilli / Prasanna / Chandrasekhar. In fact, our spinners haven't yet earned the right to wash their ধুতিs. And I say that as an unabashed BD fan and advocate for our players.

No argument there Razab bhai. The argument I am trying to establish is team selection should emphasize who are the better bowlers from the side, not so much on pitch condition. Both spinners and pacers should be told to figure out their advantages and disadvantages for different conditions, instead of being told you are a bowler for this condition but not for that condition.

Our pacers are never threatening except Mashrafee and a few spell once in a blue moon by Shahadat and we should act the way India used to use their pacers in 70s. Use them for few overs and once the shine is gone, Shakib and co comes in.

According to today's prothom-alo (news paper): seems like Mehrab Jr. will play in Mash's spot.
So looks like for 2nd test bowling option -
spin: Shakib-Riyad-Mehrab Jr-Ashraful.
Pace: Rubel-Shahadat
