Default Info About Digital Camera.. Can anyone help me.

I want to buy a digital camera, but I don't have any idea about it.

Can anyone tell me I have to look for which facilities. I mean features.

Which brand will be better and what will be the price. My budget is 6,000 taka.

And also can anyone inform me the prices of memory chip for the camera?

At tk. 6,000... you probably wont get a Digicam that allows any additional memory chip. It will probably have some inbuilt memory of 16 MB maximum.

Here's a link:
http://www.cameras.co.uk/specs/digit...ifications.cfm

You will find comparisons here.. but the problem will be budget I think.

here is my input for a amaturish digital camera that will be good:

pixel: 3.0M +
memory: 16M +
digital zoom: does not matter
optical zoom: the more the better but not needed for family photos and stuff like those
battery type: better to have a rechargable because it does cost money to buy them.
company: does not matter. some name brand will just cost you some extra buck and will give you some insurance but they all work.

Digital cameras in Bangladesh are very overpriced, almost 50% higher than US price. You won't get any below par (2.0 MP) digicam unless you can spend at least 12000 Tk. For a decent 3.0 MP digicam, you have to spend ~18000 to 20000 tk.

I would suggest saving money and getting a good digicam later. If you have money, then Canon is the way to go. Olympus, Nikon, Fujifim aren't bad either.

if you have a relative living in US then get their address, get an account in ebay bid and get it shipped to their house. Ask them to send it with someone reliable. TK 9000 should get you a decent one with software. 3 pixel is good enough for any 5x7 picture. if you want to have 9x11 made then u would need at least 4 pixel to get quality pictures. memories are expensive over here but also can see the price in ebay.

To buy a camera you really need to look around and read a lot of reviews, see sample pictures and go to the store to hold the camera yourself.

What I have also seen is that a picture that looks fabulous to me might not look the same in your eyes.

Below are some review sites of digital cameras:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/
http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/cameraList.php
http://www.imaging-resource.com/DIGCAM01.HTM

Now you will be lost because there are so many to choose from. So be patient, spend some time and look around for a while before you buy one. I am sure you can find one that you like and be happy with.

I have a Minolta Dimage Xt, and with a 1 gigabyte upgrage, not only can you put on 1000 photos, but, it also acts as a video camera. The image is crystal clear and everyone is completely amazed how light it is and how good the pics are. year ago it was the lightest camera in the world. it fits in my shirt pocket.
I paid several thousand air miles (10 years of shopping at Safeway.) I think the retail price was about $500 ish Canadian dollars. About $400 ish US dollars. It is amazing for amateurs like me, yet has 100's of features I haven't even learned to use yet.

Mercury is a generic brand and it would be wise to stay 100 miles away from them when you're buying something expensive.

You can't get a Canon anywhere near 6000. Forget about it. In fact, there's not much difference between image quality of 7000tk mobile phone cameras and cheap digital cameras. These mobile phone cameras don't have flash, that's the only disadvantage.

oh, I didn't know the conversion ratio. If 26,000 daka is about 400 dollars, and you can get one for less than one fourth of that, that is $100. I guess prices have come down since I was looking at the market. wow. That is good. Good luck.

What is the minimum wage in Dhaka anyway, if there is one?
And what is the average income? I am just curious?

I have a canon powershot A400. The final price - $81 ( approx. 4800 Taka) with a canon IP3000 photo-printer .

It is 3.2MP with 2.2X optical Zoom. Some digital zoom which i don't care, and results are fantastic. It's within your range.

The only catch is, it was bought on a deal which had a massive MIR (mail-in-rebate). I had spent a total of around $200 on Camera+printer combo and had gotten $120 back after like 4-6 weeks. Most of the times, that's how it works in US.

It can work for you if you know someone in US. Pay him the 6000 taka (or promise to pay him). Ask him to look for such deals and bring the camera when he comes to BD the next time. He should be able to get you a very decent camera for that kind of money.
