Sony Vaio, HP, Asus, Toshiba, etc are good brands but can't think of any specific models. Ideally I'd recommend any laptop with 1.8GHz+ core2duo processor, 2GB+ RAM, 200GB+ HDD, 15.4"+ screen, DVD-RW, webcam. Weight is also important. Battery life should be decent. It really depends on what you need it for. I recommend taking a trip to BCS Computer City at Mirpur to check out what options are available.

I checked. I have found "Dell Inspiron 1564" with Intel i5 processor. How is it?

BTW what is the difference between Core 2 Duo And Intel Core i5 processor?

And if you have any suggestion/opinion, please give it here.

i5 is one of the current generation of processors, and should be better. Its in between i3 (budget), and i7 (performance), and I personally think they are a good value.

Core 2 duo is an older line of processors from intel. i5 should be better.

Core i5 has faster Front side bus, and dual core core i5 has built in graphics card which can play HD videos smoothly. My brother has a i3 proecessor and his laptop plays HD videos smoothly.

thats the best recommendation anyone one can give. i want add the brand ACER. though in BD sony vaio and toshiba may be more expensive, but u can chose between ACER, HP and ASUS within ur budget. i use an HP, my father an ASUS and my mom an ACER, and from my experience with all three brands i think ACER>HP>ASUS. but this is only my views and with experience of only one models of each of the three brands.

i recommend u buy a magazine, computer jagat, computer bichitra or technology today. they have lots of ads of latest laptops. check the different features in different configurations. A HIGHER CONFIGURATION WILL CERTAINLY MAKE THE PRICE A BIT HIGHER. make a shortlist and also then note the dealers shop name in IDB. then have a tour at IDB and check them in front.

and i suggest try to stay away from compaq or dell in BD. and also some chinese brands that are growing these days.

Intel Dual Core processors are now too old. They've come up with i3, i5, and i7. i3 is equivalent to your dual core processors, but will remain cool.

I got my shali a Sony viao with i3 processor...and it simply doesn't heat up. i5 and i7 can be **very** expensive. But if you need the processing power, go with i5.

I thought of ACER too but I have already seen two ACER laptops break down and would stay away from them unless I've exhausted all other options. On the other hand, Asus laptops are the most reliable I have used and there is plenty of evidence out there to support it. Here is one for example- http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile...laptops-651331

As for Chinese brands, I've actually heard great things about Lenovo in terms of reliability of their laptops. I haven't used one though, so can't say for sure.
