Just use Google transliteration for phonetic typing:
http://www.google.com/transliterate/Bengali
.... and so on

(there are some spelling mistakes I mean I didn't find a way to get the right spelling.. may be with practice it will get better )

If you backspace after it had transliterated, the Google transliterator will give you alternate variations - you pick what is correct.

I agree to disagree on English being richer nowadays than the old time. When a language don't have the words to express the thoughts only then it has the opportunity to grow (get rich). Words are used as similies, metaphors, analogy, figure of speech to overcome the word shortage.
English keeps importing words from other languages when there is a need; it just piggy backs on other langauages to express those feelings/thoughts. That doesn't make the langauge rich. Bangla language would face the same if we keep importing words from other languages. I am sure you have studied "Megnad bod kabbo" or part of it. To understand each and every word one had to do research. That is rich. - My two cents.

What I find disturbing is that I have been seeing this phenomenon currently even among Bengali medium students.
In English medium students, this is a trait that I can understand, but not forgive (especially since I was an English medium student myself, and the Bangla syllabus taught in our school then was the same as that of SSC), but to see it happening in Bengali medium pupils is disturbing indeed.
Tangential remark: is it just me being overly sensitive, or do some of you feel that the pronunciation of Bangla vowels and consonants in some recent adhunik and pop songs is becoming corrupted (e.g. vowel sounds becoming shorter as in Hindi or English, " ফ" being pronounced like the English "F", etc.?

Yes. We as a people died to speak our Bangla. to have it ruined is not acceptable to me. bangladesh must mean land not just of the people, but of the language, the food, the dress.
we should reject other inputs.

does losing how to speak bangla matter - yes.
this is my meaning.

Huh I will miss those girls mixing Bangla-Eng and pronouncing Bnglala in a way I could never imagine... They look so cute when they do it... Ufff can't I have even that Much freedom in this country ..
Life is gonna be so boring now...

So you do like those cute but dumb girls .. age bolben na
On a serious note, This ban is not for public right? Girls and boys can still act cute with their Banglish accent!! But I am old school and I can't accept this Language Pollution specially when we are the only nation who fought for our own language. Do you think today's kids realize Ekusher Chetona?? For them 21she February is a day to celebrate. They wear fancy panjabi/ saree- go out and have fun. That's fine if you actually know what you are doing. But I don't think these kids realize that they are suffering from identity crisis. Na firingi hote pare na Bangali. So I appreciate this step as the intention is to protect our language. We have some rules for our Flag and not following those rules are interpreted as showing disrespect to the flag, likewise there should be some rules for language too. A fine line should be drawn between language pollution and language enrichment. The future generation should know how to show respect to their own language and media always plays a bigger role to influence people.

Not sure why people are getting so bent over this...it's the courts issuing a rule on the government...this will cause a few articles to be written, and then forgotten and ignored. Nothing is going to change as a result of this interim rule by a group of judges.
Our courts order the government to do things every other month - stop deforestation, stop the taking over of Gulshan Lake, stop child labor etc etc...like all of the above, this too will be ignored.
We had some academics get a bit bent out of shape, they decided to go to the courts, the courts indulged them...the media decided this would be a fun filler - and so we've had a week long circus.

And why does it matter? As long as people knows how to communicate and however they want to. If they don't want to speak in "pure bangla" then thats their choice. We live in a globalised world and all these culture vultures trying to preserve language and culture by force is plain stupid.
We have freedom of speech (or rather did until this came up).
Banning F-word and other swearings makes more sense than harmless fusion of two languages. This is a joke.

Exactly. Assimilation happens slowly and the language evolves. What we are seeing is, in fact, invasion.

Although this bothers me a little, but not that much. What really bothers me is the fake accent that many DJ's use these days. They try to speak Bangla like someone who grew up in an English-speaking country, but you can tell easily that the accent is fake.

Agree to both...
What's the problem, if some people want to pronounce it in a different way?? What's the disregard or disrespect in that? Then Sylotie, Chatgia, Noakhali, Barishallya all local language should be banned, they aren't even remotely close to proper Bangla!!! DJ pronunciation is definitely loved by some, that's why they do it. Don't party if you don't like it or go to a club or channel that doesn't do thatway, if you dislike it... There is no shortage of choice. It doesn't really bother me if some kids even can't speak Bangla, I'm sure we have enough people and strength in our identity to accept that diversity in our society...
