Default Where did we go wrong ?

Where does our fault lie?

What did we do wrong ?

I dont begrudge Pakistan their victory, just as I didnt begrudge Sri Lanka in 1996 or India in 2007.

But I keep asking myself, where did we, as Bangladesh fans, go wrong ?

Are we nastier to our players than Ind/Pak fans? No
Are we abusive to other fans? No
Did we cheat our way to the World Cup in 99? No

I am not asking for us to be in the semi finals of every major tournament, nor do I ask for our players to be crucified if we dont win every game.

All I ask for is one good performance in maybe every 3 games.....
A good performance doesn't necessarily mean trashing the opposition, any stable performance will do, just dont fall to 30/4, or score 65/1 and then fall to 110 all out.

I know I am beating a dead horse, but its really frustrating to be a Bangladeshi fan. I am probably more tolerant than many fans for e.g. I was willing to give Bashar or Pilot a chance when others wanted their head. ....

If achievements/ fans' passion could be quantified, we would probably have the lowest ratio by far.........

This tournament was also horrible in the way we collapsed against Ireland, yes they are a good team, but that doesn;t mean we lose to them everytime we play them in a tournament....

We went wrong in every where possible.
Expect devine help before putting the effort. Saying we believe yet deep down don't. Prefer arrogance over humility. Can't suppress our anger. Can't forgive out of love (just so that we are forgiven). Become stingy in times of difficulty.

I think the main problem lies with the domestic cricket structure in Bangladesh. We do not have a year round professional league through which players can grow in skills as well as temperament.

That is the reason talented young players like Ashraful, Alok Kapali, Shahadat Hossain jr etc fail to perform consistently at the top level. They are brought in to international level too fast without giving the chance to mature..

Other teams also have few young players, but it's a good combination of experience and new. But for us at one point, everyone was under 26-27. Infact in the last WC we had the youngest side in the tournament.

After gaining test status our team got exposure to more International cricket but the basic issue was never addresses. How to instill professionalism in local leagues, improving school cricket and building cricketing facilities across the country.
