So has BCB cleared them to play ODI?

I think Aftaab Ahmed is a better player than Nafees Iqbal - at the moment.

But since we are not short of middle order batsman, but we are short of openers (one day openers) so Nafees has got in.

Nascer bhai! I would give a million (proverbial!) dollars for you to change your cynical outlook.

Personally, I think making Arafat Rahman the chairman of the development committee may have been a very good move on part of the BCB. He is an influential person, and has the power to open any door in Bangladesh! He seems to be doing a good job if you ask me. The age groups seem to be much more active, more stadiums are being built etc. etc. Its wrong on our part to assume parties guilty when we just don't know enough.

By the way, I am no BNP supporter :P I couldn't care less if he was hasina's, Ershad's or Nizami's son or whoever's. As long as his love and commitment for Bangladesh Cricket are genuine, I have nothing to complain. So far he hasn't done anything to show otherwise. May be in the future he will but until he does lets give him the benefit of doubt. Not all human beings are evil through and through!
Enough with the conspiracy theories already!

Default Nafis a good opener?

Quote:
"We believe Nafees would be a better opener than Javed Omar in the one dayers. We had experimented with the opening position in Pakistan but could not find the right pairing. But Nafees has the potential to fill the vacuum and may form a solid partnership with Hannan Sarker," said Faruque
If he is such a great opener than why the 9 against Pakistan and the 4 against SL under 19?! Could he be another young talent who happened to have pulled a fluke at the international level? In other words, could he be another Enamul Huq Jr., Muhammad Ashraful, Talha Jubair, Muhmmad Sharif....?

Pulling Javed and replacing him with Nafis would be mistake. There are better replacements for the opening spot ...Moniruzzaman or Bidyut, for example.

Ockey - I'd put Javed and Nafees at about the same level, except, nafees may use 30-60 balls less to get the same results and him being 19 also makes this a useful change for us.

As for Jamaluddin - considering that he has had some really good matches, i am going to overlook the two obvious connections. Also, he isn't too far behind Enamul Jr. and has a good first class average. Could be a better option then durjoy as a bowling all-rounder (but I don't think he'll be anywhere near tat average in int'l cricket). He is 26, good to see a mature head in the team.

However, I don't think Jamal will play in the first match, we need tapash and another pacer to bowl. But I guess we'll be stuck with Shujon and Mushfiq, PORA KOPAL.

Yes, Nafis just finished his 3-game flop in Pk. The selectors should never have put these ideas in his head while he is playing an important tourney for us. This is gonna look awkwardly stupid now.

Did you guys wait till the finish? BD U-19 34 all out inside 15 overs.

At least I know for certain that THESE PLAYERS ARE MARKED to go all out for 34 runs in the future for the Bangladesh National Team.

By the way, I didn't see the name of Aftaab Ahmed in the scorecard of this match of 34 all out.

I wonder if Nafees has a poor reputation as a leader. He has failed in a match as the captain since the team under his leadership got all out for 34. There were some conspiracies going on when he was leading the last U-19 World Cup in New Zealand when several players of the team had conflicts with the captain, which resulted to a poor performance of the Bangaldesh U-19 team that time.

I don't have any gurge against him personally or otherwise, I would be happy if he can prove all the above things wrong; I am only putting up the facts.

Default Premature Selection

The selection for the OD squad was too premature. Especially Nafis' call up.

He was playing a fregging tournament where he was leading a side that had lost two games by large margins against the UNDER 19 players of the subcontinent! His performance with the bat calls into question his inclusion in the BD U19 squad and his leadership skills leaves a lot to be desired. In no way shape or form do I think he is ready to play in the big leagues. Also, how can someone be rewarded by being allowed to represent and play at the highest level after failing to lead from the front at a much lower level.

Why couldn't the selectors hold off announcing the squad till the day before the first ODI? They certainly done that in the past and there is no protocol that says that they couldn't have done it this time around. And the question remains...who might Moniruzzaman replace?

My friends...can't we go and play atleast i hope we can do better than 34. I know it's too later for me to play u19. but I can't believe how they did that. What bowled that Pathan guy bowled that we could not face....what's our problem..technique..mentality what's that....are these players have no responsiblities??

Count me in (very suitable for U-19 according to my age ), We gonna smack them. I'm really in a very harsh mode now, after all these defeats.

We will definitely score more than 34, infact I say more than 150 (if everyone contributes).

Default Dear ehsan...it\'s better you play for wherever you playing now don\'t come to U19 if you even get chance

I am shocked...it's better man you stay wherever you play and become good...I guess if you even get chance in U19 or even bd team you won't be able to do good...for some reason our sports(cricket, soccer, anything you mention) never improves comparing to international standard...is it our just management and players...or for environment..or food...or just lack of responsibilities...I hardly remember bd performed in any sports upto to the international level standard..sorry guys not hurting anyone..I am just shocked about our sports and improvements of diff sports and facilities.

Default Cricket is not my Destiny

I never tried for Canda's U 19, why then should I try for BD U19 (which will require me stay there without my family). I play cricket whenever I get to, mostly in School tournaments (as well in big events like event Toronto School District Board Cricket Championship). Although I was offered to play for a club here but I didn't show much interest as Cricket is not a profession that I'm choosing for myself. Cricket is my Passion, love to play and love to talk about.
