If everything goes in al Furqaan bhai's way then I can bet that we will be in the top 5 if not top 3.

With the horrid starts some of our players begin with early in their career, it'll be very hard for them to reach batting averages of 40 or bowling averages of 30.

If we maintain the current philosophy of improvement; We will endup losing test status.
Will continue to play ODIs in the non elite circuit, teams like IRE, SCO, Zim will start beating us consistently, bcoz of thier rapid rate of improvement.

unless some major shift in approach takes place within a year or so

Avg is so boring Asad. How bout centuries and wkts?
Test :
Tamim - 15 centuries ( not bad..Zaheer Abbas, territory )
Ash -10 , Z- 8, Rakib -12, Sakib -5 Alex- 2 ( including a double ) Rahim- 5 Aftab -1 and thats the end.

Now you fill the ODI centuries, and test-odi wkts..

ash already has 4 tons halfway through his career. if he ends up with 10 final, then he won't have improved much beyond what he is now. i hope ash gets to around 15 min and would love him to get 20+. i also think raqib and rahim can easily double the numbers you've given them...or at least i hope so.

Raqibul will be a legend, he will average 50+ in tests and ODI 35+ and i am pretty sure about that. Other players such as Shakib, Tamim, Kapali will probably average 25-30 in tests and same in ODIs... ar Ashraful er kotha amare jigayen na

I remeber seeing (and actually posting) on similar threads before. I find it a little baffling though how people are predicting Raqibul to end up with 45+ "Test" average. Yes, he does seem to have the right attitude and he also has a 1st class triple hundred but if I remember correctly in the last NCL his stats were nothing extra ordinary, with a handful of fifties and no hundreds. While I would love to see him succeed, I just think predicting 45+ avarage for a guy who is yet to make his test debut is a tad risky. Anyone remebers the hype around Graeme Hick before his test debut?

oh please... those averages listed are nowhere near realistic... our batsmen will always struggle to avg. 40 in any form

I hope it happens where a batsmen can avg above 35 (and above 25 innings) but it is a long way off yet

i'd expect ashraful to play until he's about 35 so he's got about 10/11 years until then, if he can't manage one good test innings a year (one century a year) i'd pretty disappointed. i'm expecting more from ashraful but tbh at this point i'm not all that hopeful, certainly not confident that he can become the gun player that he should become in his prime. as for averages i just want 30+ from the batsmen and 32 or under for the bowlers, anything more and i consider it a bonus at this point.

i would expect raqibul and shakib to emerge with the best test records among the present lot. which means a solid but unexceptional average over 35.

mashrafee will be our first bowler to cross the threshold of 200 test wickets. i hope he finishes with a haul of over 250 wickets with an average under 35.

as for ashraful, making any predictions about his performance for the next game is fraught with danger, let along assessing his career average. if he does play for 10 more years, ash should end up with more than 120 tests. if he can finally find some consistency in his batting he can still end up with a 35ish test average.

You mean 50+ tests? or Career Runs? or playing Age? or Test Exam? I am on for a million dollar bet, if you really meant Career Average Runs in Test Cricket.

Banfan,

We have two choices. Fiirstly, lets give that kid Khalek a break. Secondly, before you make those bets, lets check if you have the money - personally, I'm assuming the one is USD, right ?

Break given.

Fund might be surplus, if the bet is on.

Not Zim $ ..

Even if Ashraful plays intl cricket for the next 10 yrs, he won't be able to get his average to cross 30. A century once in a blue moon and 50 other scores of 10's or 20's is definitely the way to go to lift one's average past 30.
