Continuous cricket needed - Lack of tests killing, more 5 match test series, overseas tours needed
http://www.wisdenindia.com/cricket-n...es-smith/83301
2 match test series is a joke, pathetic Papon and BCB need to organise more
We have quality players like Sakib, Nasir, Mominul but they need more tests, chances, tours and stadiums

Stop whining for God's sake.
There is no way we can automatically get such a series. 3 test match series should be enough for now

5 match series is only exclusive to the top 4 test teams, even the Pak vs SA series was only two test matches.

This is the problem with short series and lazy BCB not organising matches
Players are rusty and by the time they are in form series is over.
Also very hard to come back from behind.
Each series must be 5 test,, 7 ODI series

5 match test series aren't very common, definitely should be trying to get some 3 match test series though. need to stop having such long breaks as well, for tests especially BD usually has huge breaks between series.

I don't mind a series with Afghan or Zimbabwe at home
Given that stadiums will be filled anyways

Only when England and Australia play each other is when they play 5 Test match series. When India plays England or Australia, they play a 4 Test match series. Even SA get 3 Test match series against the likes of Australia, England and India. The rest play 3 Test match series at the most.
I see next year we're slotted to play SL, WI, and Zimbabwe in Test series and India in an ODI series. So that's about 6 Tests next year which is about what we get. It'll be tough to make the SL series a 3 Test series since they apparently have big tour with Pakistan. I doubt WI would want to make our tour a 3 Test match series. We should however push India to make the ODI series a 2 Test series and then against Zimbabwe we should make it a 3 Test series. That way we can add about 3 Tests without adding any opponents to our schedule and that'd bring it up to 9 Tests for the year which would be great.
For that to happen though, BCB needs to be proactive now and try to contact all the boards and try to get as many matches out of as they can. If they approach them too late, those boards would refuse.

the problem with that is SL and WI don't give a damn about test cricket anymore so I don't see them wanting to play more tests with us.
The only option is Zimbabwe

our fitness is still not good enough for 3 test match series. We will probably have to play SRK by the third match with the lack of options.
But as we improve more and more in ODI, we deserve to get 5 match series specially for home.
The home tours should be 2 tests, 5 ODIs and 2 T20s.

How much does it cost to attract NZ or SL or WI or PAK for a series of 3 test matches? I'm trying to understand if those are economically sustainable or not.
The ODIs and T20s I believe pays for themselves with Ticket sales and TV rights.

Feasible or not, they only come to Bd because of FTP. No test nation will create a series against BD out of FTP unless they want to skip a series or change the FTP.

Absolute shame that teams try fitting in 5/7 match ODIs and 3 T20s etc instead of having more test.
3 test should be a must. The 2 test thing is an absolute joke. But then there isn't much we can say when a team of South Africas caliber agrees to play 2 match test series -- first with Pakistan and now India.

Troll. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Yes we should play more but 5? Nice joke. I would be happy wit 2 test series without massive gaps like 3-4 months.

I suspect money is a big factor. If we can spend big money, we can certainly attract bigger teams. To me that would be an investment. In return we will get better performance and better TV rights in future. Cricket is a business. We need to understand how to grow it.

Completely agree. 2 test series is over even before it begins.
Players are rusty after long breaks and series is over by the time they get into form. This Papon is hopeless.

Money is a big factor but not for the traveling team. The traveling team ONLY get travel expense and food stipend. Australia don't get any thing paid extra than Zimbabwe when traveling to SA, Eng etc. Again, they only come to BD because of FTP. Very simple.

Matches can be arranged outside of FTP if BCB wakes up and does something for the players
