Mitch Johnson firing it up. Hit Elgar's elbow and arm in 2 consecutive balls and the 3rd ball is a LBW. A pair for Dean Elgar in his first test.

Amla out on 196. Fantastic knock. Pair on debut for Elgar. Ouch! SA past 500. They'll probably wait for AB century and then declare. Faf can get a nice asterisk next to his name to round off a dream start to his Test career.

This is odd. AB has his century. SA lead by 517. Why aren't they declaring?

It's only day three. They should bat two more sessions.

The lead is 600 declare ffs. You can't honestly be telling me Graeme Smith thinks Aussies will chase this down?

Time is crucial....and why should SA allow them to bat straight way after a good nights sleep?? Must make them field for at least a session or an hour to irritate...and stretch the lead .... That's test cricket...you just can't think of lead and declare with so much of time in hand...against good teams...

Chasing this down with 2 days left, that too against Steyn, Philander & Morkel is beyond impossible. Even draw can be considered a miracle at this point.

i think aussies will play well in 2nd innings and score between 300-400. it's almost impossible for them to win however. if they somehow do it'll undoubtedly be the greatest win ever by any team in the history of test cricket

expect clarke to score big here, and hussey is in good form. wadde just made 68, cowan got a ton this series, warner is always a wildcard. they've got 2 days, still all 10 wickets in hand, can they do it? not likely but if clarke plays a big innings and a couple of others tag along then they could get close...

Good bye Ricky and Thank You!
Last out - caught by Kallis bowled R.Peterson.
Fitting that it was Kallis. And what a catch.

Goodbye RP. There will never be another player and character like you. I'll miss your arrogant, never die attitude more than anything else. There aren't many cricketers like that.

Steyn said they didn't come to Australia for a draw. He followed up with some good pace bowling.

I am glad that South Africa won this match and retain their position
