any new news? I saw a report in NTV that said the pirates have asked for something around 62 koti taka. im not too sure about the amount but its something around that.

এভাবেই স্ত্রী মাহফুজার কাছে নিজের অবস্থান বর্ণনা করেন সোমালীয় জলদস্যুদের হাতে অপহৃত বাংলাদেশি নাবিক মোহাম্মদ তারিকুল ইসলাম।
দীর্ঘ ১২ দিন পর আজ বুধবার দুপুরে চুরি করে ফোনে স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করেন মোহাম্মদ তারিকুল ইসলাম। ১৭ দিন ধরে অনিশ্চিত জীবনে থাকা ২৬ বাংলাদেশির অন্যতম তারিকুল জানিয়েছেন তাঁরা সুস্থ।
এদিকে পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী দীপু মনি জানিয়েছেন, ছিনতাই হওয়া বাংলাদেশি জাহাজ জাহান মণিকে ২৬ জন বাংলাদেশিসহ সম্ভাব্য স্বল্পতম সময়ে নিরাপদে ফিরিয়ে আনতে সরকার চেষ্টা চালাচ্ছে। তিনি গতকাল মঙ্গলবার তাঁর কার্যালয়ে ছিনতাই হওয়া জাহাজের কর্মীদের পরিবারের আত্মীয়স্বজনের সঙ্গে আলোচনা শেষে সাংবাদিকদের এ তথ্য জানান।
মোহাম্মদ তারিকুল ইসলামের স্ত্রী মাহফুজা খাতুন প্রথম আলোকে জানান, বাংলাদেশ সময় বেলা ২টা ১৫ মিনিটে তিনি স্বামীর কণ্ঠ শুনতে পান ১২ দিন পর।
টেলিফোনে কয়েক মিনিটের আলাপচারিতায় তারিকুল তাঁর স্ত্রীকে জানান, আপাতত জাহাজে আটকে পড়া বাংলাদেশিদের খাবারের কষ্ট নেই। যদিও তাদের সীমিত আকারে খেতে দেওয়া হচ্ছে। তবে পানির কিছুটা অসুবিধা রয়েছে। যোগাযোগ বিচ্ছিন্ন থাকায় জাহাজের ওই ২৬ জন ঠিক বুঝে উঠতে পারছেন না তাঁদের ভাগ্যে কী ঘটতে যাচ্ছে।

Kabir bhai turns out this guy Jafor Iqbal was kidnapped by Somali Pirates from a German owned ship back in May.

Chittagong, Jan 8: One of the two Bangladeshi seamen captured by Somali pirates from a Cambodian cargo ship has returned home in Chittagong, reports bdnews24.com.
The other seaman is also on his way back home and expected to arrive in a week.
Giasuddin Azam Khan, one of the crewmembers of the German owned ship, 'Maria Margaret', arrived at the Chittagong Shah Amanat Airport from Oman.
Gias was an engineer of the hijacked ship. He expects that his colleague, Jafar Iqbal, would also
return home in a few days.
"The pirates released the ship after long eight months in exchange of $5.5 million ransom in December last year," Giasuddin told reporters at his Mehdibagh residence in the port city.
After being released, both the crewmembers went to Oman before leaving for Bangladesh.
Pirates hijacked the ship on May 8 last year from the Eden Sea and held 19 Indians, two Bangladeshis and an Ukranian working in the ship hostage.
Giasuddin Azam hails from Hathazari upazila of Chittagong. His father, Abul Bashar, is the assistant director of Rajdhani Unnayan Kortipokkho (RAJUK).
Jafar, who originally hails from Chagalnaiya upazila of Feni, was brought up in Chittagong.

আজকের মধ্যে মুক্তিপণ না দিলে নাবিকদের হত্যা করা হবে

মুক্তিপণ দিয়ে আজ বৃহস্পতিবারের মধ্যে ছাড়িয়ে না নিলে অপহূত জাহাজ ‘জাহান মণি’র ২৬ জন বাংলাদেশি নাবিককে হত্যা করা হবে। ওই জাহাজের সর্বকনিষ্ঠ নাবিক রাব্বি গতকাল বুধবার রাতে তাঁর মাকে মুঠোফোনে এ কথা জানিয়েছেন।
এ খবর শুনে অপহূত নাবিকদের আত্মীয়-স্বজনেরা আজ বৃহস্পতিবার সকাল নয়টার দিকে চট্টগ্রামে জাহাজ কোম্পানি ‘এসআর শিপিং’-এর কার্যালয়ে গিয়ে বিষয়টি জানান এবং কান্নাকাটি করতে থাকেন।
এসআর শিপিংয়ের মহাব্যবস্থাপক মেহেরুল করিম বলেন, ‘সকালে আমরা নাবিকদের আত্মীয়-স্বজনদের কাছ থেকে ঘটনাটা শুনেছি। কিন্তু আমি মনে করি, এটা জলদস্যুদের চাপ সৃষ্টির একটি কৌশল। আমরা নাবিকদের উদ্ধারে আলোচনা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছি এবং দ্রুত তাঁদের মুক্ত করতে পারব।’
গত ৫ ডিসেম্বর আরব সাগরের ভারত উপকূলে জলদস্যুদের কবলে পড়ে জাহান মণি। জাহাজটিতে ২৫ জন বাংলাদেশি নাবিক এবং প্রধান প্রকৌশলীর স্ত্রী রয়েছেন। জাহাজটি এখন সোমালিয়ার উপকূলে। জিম্মি নাবিকেরা স্বজনদের জানান, জলদস্যুরা ৯০ লাখ মার্কিন ডলার মুক্তপণ দাবি করেছে।
