Default Eriksson speaks of an affair with Bangladeshi origin FA sectary!

(Reuters): England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson said on Thursday he had never confirmed or denied to the Football Association that he had had an affair with an FA secretary.
Eriksson said he had broken his policy of not commenting on his private life and his silence over the relationship, which threatens to end his 3-1/2-year spell as manager, because he was "so distressed by recent inaccurate comment".

"With regard to the Football Association's forthcoming enquiry announced on July 27th into 'the circumstances which led to the FA issuing legal statements based on misleading information', I wish to state unequivocally that ... I have at no time either categorically confirmed or denied any relationship with Ms. Faria Alam," Eriksson said in a statement released by his agent.

The FA are holding an urgent inquiry into whether they were misled after being forced to confirm an affair by Eriksson after initially denying it.

The FA also admitted that chief executive Mark Palios had had a relationship with Alam who is of Bangladeshi origin.

Eriksson, 56 and unmarried, said neither he nor his advisers had any "prior knowledge" of the two FA statements about Alam.

The Swede said he looked forward to discussing the matter with the FA on August 5 when the ruling body has called an emergency meeting.

Meanwhile, the 'Svengate' saw a new twist on Thursday when Alam revealed she had a fling with a third FA executive.

Alam claims she was "crazy" about a third man at the Football Association.

And as the embarrassment piles up for the FA, it is believed that Alam is poised to sell her side of the story for up to one million pounds.

The "Third Man" has not yet been named but he is believed to be unmarried and a key member of the team at the FA's headquarters in Soho Square.

Public Relations guru Max Clifford says he is not representing Ms Alam but believes she could make about a million pounds from the tangled story.

"She knows what Sven thinks about the Beckhams, his views on what players are worth and on Nancy Dell'Olio.

"I'm not handling her PR so I don't know what she knows...but everyone's phoned me to say they'll outbid everyone else for the story."

Default Sabash Bangalee..!!

At least she's doing her part to make us famous !!
If it wasn't for her, the word 'Bangladesh' probably would've never appeared in same paragraph with World class Soccer(Football) elites

She's really a go getter. She knows what she wants and not shy about getting it..even if means stepping on some else's head/heart. Sounds like a true capitalist

Faria: From rags to scandal
Daily Mail, London

When Faria Alam' s family fled the ravages of Bangladesh's Liberation War in 1971, they travelled in the hope of making a better life for themselves.
That is exactly what Faria thought she had done when she accepted a 35,000-pound-a-year job as a secretary at the Football Association.

But it has not brought her the kind of lifestyle her parents had in mind when they exchanged the heat of Dhaka for the low skies of the north of England.

They were strict Muslims whose fervent hope was that their only daughter would wed and settle down into a secure family life. They lived first in Bradford, then in Newcastle.

But in their effort to keep her in touch with her cultural background, they frequently took her back to Bangladesh. And when she was 16, they arranged for her to marry a prosperous businessman in Dhaka.

The prospect of becoming a conventional Muslim wife, however, held no appeal for this independent young woman. Within a few months the marriage was over and she was on a plane to Britain, ostensibly to pursue her education.

There, she developed the lust for attention and fame which has been her undoing.

"She's starstruck," her 33-year- old brother Aswat sadly observes.

This led her to discard the moral constraints which her parents tried so hard to imbue in her, and has placed her at the centre of the scandal that could yet cost Sven Goran Eriksson his job.

At 38, Faria Alam is entitled to make her own mistakes. But that is no consolation to her family.

"It is shocking to see what is being said about her," Aswat says from his home in Seattle on America's Pacific coast, where he is undergoing treatment for renal disease and diabetes.

"When she told us she had got the job at the FA, I warned her to be careful. If she worked in such a place, she would end up with her face in the newspapers.

"Our mother always wanted her to settle down. But she is very independent. She's not the sort of woman who wants to settle down."

The truth is that Faria always wanted to hang out with the fast set. That is why, when she attended Ponteland Community High School in Newcastle, she gave herself the nickname of 'Ferrari'.

There was a touch of sad self-delusion in that choice -- for the one thing that Faria didn't have when she was at school was glamour.

"She really was very nondescript," a contemporary remembers. "She was very bookish."

Her classmates at the College of Art and Technology, where she studied to become a computer technician and analyst (those who can remember her at all, that is) tell a similar story.

"She was actually very shy," says an old college acquaintance.

In the early 1990s, her businessman father and her mother, Khatun, decided to move to Seattle. Faria was supposed to join them but was unable to get the necessary permits.

Faria moved instead to London where, once the restraining parental hand was removed, she started running wild. She moved into a flat in Battersea and then headed for the West End.

"She started going to a lot of parties," her brother recalls.

She also started modelling.

"She was quite good at it," says Swani Gulshan, who took several fashion shots of her in the early '90s.

"She had a sexy smile and long legs and she got a lot of work modelling clothes for the Asian market, which was just getting started then."

In 1996, however, she entered a beauty competition organised by Zee TV. When she failed to win, she was finally forced to accept that she was never going to be a Vogue cover girl and, at 30, had no alternative but to put her education to use. She got work as a computer analyst, with occasional jobs in PR and as a part-time secretary.

As she proclaims though an entry on the Friends Reunited website, her real interest was 'partying around the world'.

She also had a passion, it seems, for writing and -- a revelation that will send tremors through the FA -- always kept a diary. We now know she had a lot to record.

"She was always jetting off on holiday to places such as Barbados and going to restaurants like the Ivy," says her friend.

"She liked to travel by limousine as much as she could and always wears designer clothes."

All this required money, and Faria discovered that there were any number of rich men who were more than willing to entertain her.

"She's a huge flirt," adds the friend. "She loves wearing short skirts to work, and takes pride in looking very sexy.

"She's a fun-loving girl who likes having lots of affairs, never mentions the past and rarely worries about the present."

Her parents knew nothing about her London life.

"They still thought Faria was still shy and demure, the way she was when she was young," the associate continues. In fact, Faria's father died just over a year ago.

However, Aswat had a clearer idea of the path his sister was following. They keep in close touch, telephoning each other once a week. He was aware how much she liked hanging out with celebrities and how excited she was to be mixing with the stars of the football world.

Faria joined the FA last year as personal assistant to its executive director, David Davies.

"It was funny because she was never very sporty -- indeed, as a girl, she couldn't even ride a bicycle," her brother says.

Within a few weeks of joining, she had started an affair with chief executive Mark Palios, a 51-yearold divorced father of five.

When that cooled, she took up with Eriksson. There is now talk of a third and possibly even fourth affair with other FA officials, which is why some footballers are calling her 'the real FA Trophy'.

Aswat is not prepared to ask his sister for the intimate details of these allegations.

"She went out with Eriksson for dinner and, as far as I know, nothing went on. As her brother, that's all I want to know."

Default Where are we??????????

How does Clinton's affair with Monica jeapardize the country? surely they are two unrelated incidents....

What does Michael's baby-philia has to do with his songs? unrelated!

Why is my wife so concerned that I sleep with other women.. I mean she is a separate individual.... I think she should mind her own business!!

Don't let your f****** brain fall off being so open minded!

by the way, I don't think you are supposed to have a relationship with a co-worker or your student or whatever... there are some laws regarding that in some sane places.. not sure though!!

Oh please.. what happens between two consenting adults is none of our (the public's) business. It is ludicrous to give Jackson's paedophillia as an example to prove your point. He committed a heinous crime.. These two people did not.

And work romances/affairs? You'd have to be mighty naive to not know how commonplace it is these days.

The main point is, people LOVE reading about **** like this, and so the media obliges. It's an inherent human trait to enjoy and divulge gossip.

Default Eriksson get to keep his job.

Key dates in the Sven saga
Timeline of his England reign
Sven-Goran Eriksson remains as England coach after the Football Association decided he had no case to answer over his affair with secretary Faria Alam.
The FA has accepted the resignation of its director of communications Colin Gibson, while Alam has now offered to resign her post.

No mention was made of the future of under-pressure chairman Geoff Thompson or acting chief executive David Davies.

Eriksson always denied misleading the FA over his affair with Alam.

The coach was not in attendance at the meeting, which lasted just under six hours and took place at the Leonard Hotel in central London.

Afterwards a statement released on the FA website read: "In the case of Sven-Goran Eriksson, the board decided on the basis of the report and on legal advice that there is no case for him to answer.

"In the case of Faria Alam, an employee without executive status within the FA, the board has decided it is not appropriate to make any public statement with regard to her role in this inquiry."

Eriksson's agent Athole Still said that his client was pleased with the decision.

This entire episode has been regrettable for the reputation of football in this country

FA statement
"I called Sven immediately after hearing the news and he was going out for dinner with England assistant coach Tord Grip," said Still.

"He just said 'good', with a nice chuckle. He is obviously very pleased and relieved.

"He is looking forward to carrying on with his job."

PR guru Max Clifford is now looking after Alam and he confirmed she has tendered a letter of resignation.

"She just felt her position was impossible and there was no way she could go back in the circumstances," said Clifford.

The FA admitted mistakes had been made and resolved to ensure they do not happen again in the future.

The statement continued: "This entire episode has been regrettable for the reputation of football in this country but the board remain determined to restore the highest standards.

"Deficiencies surrounding management procedures have been exposed and the board is collectively resolved to see these corrected."

Comment: How Eriksson survived

The board, which comprised of chairman Thompson and a further 11 members, heard evidence from solicitor Peter Norbury, who had interviewed both Eriksson and Alam.

Norbury was asked by the FA to investigate the way the governing body initially issued a statement denying an affair between Eriksson and Alam, only to be forced into an embarrassing U-turn just a few days later.

No comment was made on Davies, who is acting chief executive following the resignation of Mark Palios last Sunday.

Palios' departure came after claims the FA tried to keep his affair with Alam quiet by offering details of Eriksson's links with the same woman.

Gibson, alleged to be the man who tried to make that deal with the News of the World newspaper, has had his resignation accepted.

The FA statement read: "The FA wishes to thank him for his services during his time as Director of Communications."

Eriksson has been England coach since January 2001 and this year signed a new contract that runs until 2008.

Most of these men were single so why was it such a big scandal? Any conspiracy theories?

ps she should pocket the cash and start designing handbags. the world is ready for a "faria" line of cosmetics, perfume....

Here's a more interesting read from a tabloid scan today:

False Alam

20 Jul 2004

FOR the past six years Nancy Dell'Olio has been Sven Goran Eriksson's main strike partner.
Sven ponders playing three up front
Despite his brief flirtation with a very forward blonde from his native country, the nippy Italian has remained Sven's first choice and has continued to play alongside the coach of England's football team.

Nancy has, as she herself explained during a recent TV interview with Jonathan Ross, provided Sven with the good and regular service he needs to fire his bullets.

But yesterday's rumours that he's been trying out a new formation with a mystery brunette are today given substance by the Express, which has a shot of Faria Alam.

Seen wearing a brown dress and beige calf-length boots, the Express says Alam emerged from her office at the Football Association and "smirked in bemusement as she watched the media interest around her".

Moving inside the FA's headquarters in London's Soho Square was Sven, who is described by one onlooker as having had a "face like thunder" - or, as is his wont, a face like an overcast, grey, wet afternoon in Malmo.

But why should he worry? Sure, Nancy flew back from Rome on a private jet for emergency talks over her future, but he has done no wrong - not this time.

To prove his innocence, the Sun caught up with Ms Alam and asked her if the allegations that she and Sven had been training together behind closed doors were true.

"There is absolutely no truth in this story," says Alam. "I have been shocked by the untrue allegations... I am taking legal advice because I can 100 per cent categorically deny any involvement with the England coach."

If she were a footballer, Alam would be now kissing the badge of her current club and pledging her future to the cause.

Although, given that such a move is often a precursor to a high-profile transfer, we should not dwell on this analogy.

BAWL GIRL: Faria weeps

Hollywood stars, such as Gwyneth Paltrow, don't need a reason. They are expected to bawl during tedious gong acceptance speeches to keep viewers awake.

Faria cried over her affair with Sven Goran Eriksson. But the £500,000 she's getting for selling her story should put the smile back on her face. Here are some other famous tear-stained faces from our screens:

I hear prostitution is the oldest profession. I guess it's my strange disability not to find any discrepancy between her holy act ( well, 5 million quids worth...ahem.... series of shags ) and the oldest profession. Oh, I was only bothered to reply only because she shares (!) my surname!
