Two Pakistani umpires to make Test debut

ISLAMABAD (October 08 2004): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed two Pakistani umpires to make their Test debut during the Zimbabwe-Bangladesh series this season.

The first Test between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will be Asad Rauf's first Test match while Nadeem Ghouri will make his Test debut in the second lest Test.

They will officiate in the following series: Bangladesh v New Zealand (two Tests and three ODIs), Pakistan v Sri Lanka (two Tests), Jubilee Match, India v Pakistan (one ODI), Australia v New Zealand (two Tests and three ODIs) India v South Africa (two Tests, Zimbabwe v England (five ODIs) Bangladesh v India (two Tests and three ODIs), South Africa v England (five Tests and seven ODIs), Australia v Pakistan (three Tests) New Zealand v Sri Lanka (two Tests and five ODIs), Bangladesh v Zimbabwe (two Tests and five ODIs), VB Series, Australia, Pakistan and West Indies (12 ODIs).

The Test matches between Bangladesh and New Zealand will be Australian Alan Hurst's first series since becoming a member of this elite panel.

The Bangladesh v New Zealand series will also see English umpire Mark Benson officiate in his first Test match.

The other umpires to have been awarded Test match appointments during this period include Englishman Jeremy Lloyds, who will stand in the first Test between Bangladesh and India.

Good on them. Wll done to the Australian umpire Alan Hurst as well. How many Elite umpires are there now. Too many.
