None of them are BATTER. Why should they be batter, I mean 'a liquid mixture of flour and eggs with milk or water for cooking". (source: Oxford dictionary)
I am just joking.
As a batsman, Faisal may be considerd better. As an all-rounder, no doubt it is Rana.
According to Channel i morning news, the Chance for Faisal is more than Rana, considering the pitch condition.

I think it's not fair to compare them. They are both relatively new, although Rana has a bit of experience under his belt. However, he is yet to be a match-winner (as if we have any). Faisal is an exciting batsman who happens to be capable of scoring at a fast pace, a quality our batters (abhs :P) lack bigtime. Rana is more of a utility player. He has the opportunity of contributing in more than 1 way. If he flops with the bat, he can still make up for it with the cherry. They both are exciting prospects for us. We haven't seen enough of Faisal yet. Let's see how he fares in near future. May be then we will have more facts to compare our judgements against.

i think its ok to comare them. well, there are not much similarities between them except this:
they are the two best player of the team right now. so, if u try to see who is the best player of team, u've to compare these two.

Remins me of the School maths.. comparison between 4 cows and 12 goates... which one is better??
trying to compare between two very different player:
Faisal: Left arm specialist batsman only
Rana: Basic Spinner.. happnes to bat also(he scores..but doesnt hav a convincing style of batting really).. so allrounder.

It seems that Hasibul is suffering from some sort’s of paranoia…. Same post in different thread!
Anyway, let’s pray for him (instead of BD).
Let’s have a special Zikir Mahfil for him.

Since the pitch is going to be a batting one, the team management decided to use six batsmen and therfore, Faisal will have his debut in the 1st test.
Bad luck for Rana.

faisal or rana
no team plays with one five specialist batman..aussies have seven (if u consider Gilchrist)..so under the circumstances Faisal is a better choice. May be Rana could have been considered over Mushfique. But latter's contribution is last few tests have been very good.

This could be a great blunder, i.e not playing Rana. The st. Lucia pitch is'nt always a batting pitch. It has provided some aid to spinners too. This was the chance to play Enamul too. I guess they are worried about our batting line up, more than the bowling.

There's no point in comparing their bowling abilities since Faisal is not a bowler. However, it's too early to jump to any conclusions as to who is the better batsman.

What about England? Hoggard, Jones, Harmison, Giles, Flintoff? Bangladesh can play five batsmen I guess. Mushfique and Rana both deserve a place in the team. Faisal (not feisal) can wait little bit longer. I wish I can replace our non-performing openers! But it's not going to happen.

He bowled as the 5th bowler in the 1st innings.

the question is, is there ANY batsmen in the squad right now who is better than rana? Since he started playing, he is the most consistant batsmen. and, since he is in the team from zim tour, he scored the highest runs for any bd batsman. if its a batting pitch, he should be there as the number one batsman, and if its a bowling pitch, he should be there as number 2 bowler (leave rafique).

my dear optimist,
we're getting away from the main point, but I could not resist making some points: when u have a genuine allrounder (who is like a batsman) u still have six batsman.. in eighties..most all-rounders played at six. India had shastri at 6, kapil at 7, Pakistan even had ejaj at 7, imran at 6. Both the waughs played at number Waughand this Jone guy is not a bad batsman at all and has a first class average over 40, you can also look at the Alec Stewert era for England..he also played at six.
I think we should not follow bad example. What is the point here: you play five batsman, and five bowlers??? Can you afford that without a genuine allrounder or a wicket keeper batsman??
further, on using bad example, I thought NOT using a nick name is a good example, but u think one needs courage to do that, i.e, to use a nickname.. u see, how bad example is hailed, good example is not?
one thing, i agree though this faisal guy can wait... but if he plays and misses out u have to give him another chance... so he will be in for another test as well...by the way, if Rana, afterall plays, we have the same team (the one played against Zim).. just Tareque for Monjurul. It looks thin.
Another point, no one in the recent history was in the shoes of our openers....they play in both test, happens whatever may... if Golla has four bad innings..who knows carrer can be over!!!
basiclly: if top order can do the job then it will NOT matter who is batting at six and seven..

What are you talking about? Considering the standard of our batsmen -- Mushfique and Rana are batting alrounders!!
