Revised expectation against Nz
We won the first match. Now what do you expect from the rest of the series?

Happy with 3-2 defeat. Will go wild if BD clinch 3-2.

Revising expectations is an individual game and I am hesitant to do that because now NZ will more focus on containing Shakib rather than dealing with the BD team.
If someone or two in the top order and one of our bowlers other than Shakib flare up in the second ODI, then I will seriously think to revise my expectations from this series.
Nice thread, though.

Expectations haven't change. I expected us to win 2 matches and I'm hoping the 2nd win won't be the 5th match after the series is sealed.
A series win of course is above expectations but now doesn't seem unreasonable. Kiwi's will have a lot of pressure on them in the 2nd ODI and we need to keep our calm, take the brunt of the initial outburst and see if we can apply ourselves to keep the pressure on them and force mistakes. If on the other hand Vettori comes out too defensive to avoid mistakes, we should take the opportunity and go at them full force.

Mashrafe is horrible. He is very unfit and injury prone. He Is a good bowler when he is fit but his body doesn't allow him to perform well. He has been constantly injured for the last two years.

2 matches is reasonable expectation as Raynman said but I dunno what to expect from the team now, frankly. Badly crippled by Mash (as a captian) and Tamim's absence. None of the pacers fully fit. So maybe 3-2 is a bit over expectations, still I expect that much from them.

@metallian. Tell us something new.
On topic- I'll be happy with 2 wins for us.

Did you get a chance to see him in the last match bro? His fitness level is just fine but its true that he is such an injury prone player. Its our hard luck that we barely get to see an injury free Mash.
I was expecting a 4-1 win for NZ. Another win will be awesome, but I dont think BD will win the series though. TBH I am more interested to see the change of our player's mindset. They are so defensive when they come to bat. Few players like Imrul, Riyad need to change and thats my expectations

I don't want Tamim to play before the Zim series. He must be fully fit before returning to cricket.
I expect to see another win in the ODI series. I hope we will be able to manage 1 win out of 4 matches.

I've wanted a series win before the it began and i still want the same.
If we can beat them without Tamim, Mash, Ash, we can beat them any day.

How was the chemistry between IK/SN and SN/JS? I didn't get to see their batting.
Tamim is our star batsmen but his innings are too boundary oriented and his running between the wickets and understanding with his partners is very poor.

Imrul was too defensive from the start and didn't look confident at all when he was in the middle..perhaps Tamim not being there made him nervous..SN was better then Imrul because of the intent he showed and willingness to score runs..some of his shots were nice but others were poor..his technique still seems poor to me..then when Zunaed came in SN got out soon after..Zunaed did not look comfortable at all when he was in the middle and got bogged down too much to be honest..I feel Tamim not being there is gonna hurt us in a lot of ways..even though he's not as devastating in ODIs then in tests but his presence alone gives Imrul and Zunaed comfort to play their styles..thats why it will be interesting to see how the batsmen play without Tamim being there..will be a good test for our top order..

Not sure if I could totally blame it on Imrul and Z. It could be a team strategy to make sure they don't lose too many wickets at the top. Since Tamim isn't there, reaching 250 would've been only possible if BD played the whole 50 overs with some fire works in the end. But lately Naeem and Riyad have been horrible to finish off the game.

In his last interview with P.Alo IMRUL said that he start to get success when he decidede that he will play his natural game(punish the loose ball respect the good one).So i think IMRUL will not change his style of play.

we hv a good chance to win one more match but considering the fact that the 1st match was won almost single handedly by Sakib if the rest of the btsmen play really well we can win it 3-2.

Does not matter what our expectation is as long as our team has high expectation.

Surely Nz will come up with hard cricket. It will be even tough for us win another match. And my biggest concern with SN. I fear he is going to be a big let down in upcoming matches with some single digit scores.

i wont take anything but banglawash
and for those who are overconcertn abt NZ gettin too serious.....remember 2008.....if players appealed for the mash's direct hit we would have win even with ash and Big z's ' kochchop goti'r battin.....so NZ is not a big threat...we nedd to believe on ourselves ( i mean our cricketers).
amito chinta kortesi NZ -er sathe ar khelboina.....ICC-ke mana kore deya uchit eshob faltu team-er sathe khela na dite ( just kiddin)

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket...Shakib-VettoriBlack Caps must nullify dangerman Shakib - Vettori
A way has to be found to neutralise all rounder Shakib Al Hassan if New Zealand are to win the next four one-day cricket internationals against Bangladesh, New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori said. Shakib Al Hasan shone with bat and ball to help Bangladesh to a morale-boosting win in the team's first meeting overnight (NZtime).
He hit 58 off 51 to steer the hosts to a competitive 228 all out and then grabbed four wickets to restrict New Zealand to 200 for eight at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on the outskirts of Dhaka.
Bangladesh won by nine runs through the Duckworth-Lewis method after rain midway through the second session forced the Black Caps' target to be revised to 210 in 37 overs.
It was only the second win for Bangladesh in 18 one-dayers against New Zealand and gave them the early advantage in the five-match series.
"Any loss is disappointing," Vettori said in a post-match interview.
"We put our self in some good positions and we should have chased down that score. Unfortunately we just lost too many wickets at crucial times and that was the reason we lost today.
"The Duckworth Lewis didn't help us. To lose 13 overs, all our power play overs and only reduce the score by 19 runs doesn't seem quite right but it is what it is and we still should have chased down that total.
"He (Shakib) played really well, he was the difference between two sides. His batting gave Bangladesh a bit of impetus going into the end and then he is always a danger with the ball.
"He is the guy we will have to nullify a little bit if we want to win the next four games."
Shakib, who stood down as captain to concentrate on his cricket, hit eight fours after skipper Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and elected to bat first.
Recalled opener Shahriar Nafees made 35 and Junaid Siddique chipped in with 30, but the Bangladeshi batsmen failed to build on good starts.
Vettori led from the front with 2-29 in 10 overs of accurate left-arm spin, while seamer Kyle Mills grabbed three wickets for 44 runs.
Jesse Ryder and Andy McKay took two wickets each.
Brendon McCullum gave the Kiwis a rousing start with 61 off 45 balls, including seven fours and two sixes.
McCullum and Jesse Ryder put on 53 for the first wicket by the seventh over, before three quick wickets from Shakib reduced the tourists to 85-4 by the 15th.
Heavy rain at that stage toughened New Zealand's target, but Ross Taylor battled bravely to make 42, while Vettori contributed 24.
"We had a reasonable start and to restrict them to less than 230 was a good effort," Vettori said.
"We expected to win, but we let ourselves down in the second half of our batting effort.
"Brendon played really well, he gave us impetus but we couldn't back him up."
"We have got to get back on track for the next game, and it is all about the next game so we are looking forward to that one."
