Default Bangla News24 prediction: Sabbir in, Shuvo out

http://www.banglanews24.com/detailsn...=2011011525319

Naeem in place of Nafees would be a catastrophic blunder. And so would be to go into a long tournament without a reserve wicket keeper. Unless, they think Junaid can do the job efficiently.

I like the fact that they have taken the day/night factor into consideration. Therefore, the inclusion of Shahadat won't be a bad idea. Specially, given the iffyness of the fitness of our pacers. Shabbir would definitely be an exciting unknown factor. This is gonna be one tricky selection process for our selectaz. They made it difficult for themselves by not playing Sabbir against the Zims. But this is Bangladesh.

I wish them all the best, though. May the commonsense prevail.

It is a positive move by going for a proper finisher but then I would prefer Alok instead of Shabbir. Shabbir has been batting at 3 for Gazi this season and even opened the batting on occasions.

Riyad is the bigger problem IMO. Batting at number 7 Naeem > Riyad (although there isn't much of a difference.) And bowling Naeem > Riyad. Either way SN deserves to be there and either of the two deserve the chop.

like their prediction. its not stupid like daily star, who choose unlimited batsman ith 3 pacer, among them 2 are injured and 1 regular spinner

i think BD news 24 squad will be the main one. love to see sabbir in the team, he will make a perfect balance and hopefully he will play at number 7. either sabbir or alok will be perfect choice at number 7

though we cried out so much for jahurul for last 2 series, but he didnt show anything in DPL too--so he is out from my 15 and dont want ash in the squad. so i want SN, sabbir, alok--all 3 in the squad. shahadat have good chance of replacing mashrafe

Wow well let's wait till we hear the final squad. That would really be something. SN deserves to be there ahead of ash for sure. Shabbir would be a good surprise element for the WC.

Default No WC without Nafees

this is gonna be insane if we leave nafees out

he has done a lot to claim a place in the starting eleven

sabbir should come in naeem's place, not in d expense of shuvo

..... keeping fingers crossed for shahadat & nazmul

Leaving out Shahriar Nafees would be a crime, he did score 73 against New Zealand HE did score thsoe back to back centuries in DPL.

Rokibul and Junaid should both be dropped. although unlikely, neither will be dropped because coach Jamie Siddons is backing them up.

My Final XI in this particular batting Order:

1. Tamim Iqbal Khan(vc)
2. Imrul Kayes
3. Shahriar Nafees Abir
4. Mohammad Mushfiqur Rahim(wk)
5. Mohammad Mahmudullah Riyad
6. Shakib-al-hasan(c)
7. Mohammad Ashraful
8. Shafiul Islam
9. Mohammad Sohrawardi Shuvo
10. Abdur Razzak
11. Rubel Hossain

12th Man: Naeem Islam
13th Man: Mashrafee Mortaza(he is not gonna be unfit forever! remember our last match is in late march, he may be 100% fit before then inshaAllah , it may be it may be that we go on to quarter finals, so you know, he is not always going to be unfit.)
14th Man: Junaed Siddique
15th Man: Shahadat Hossain

i wish this was a 16th man list: Rakibul Hasan

This lineup was based on DPL form. Shafiul also scored a 26 ball 50 in the DPL, he may be a good finisher in #8
Riyad and Rahim did excellent in DPL batting in top order.
Demoting Shakib to #6, why? he will always be under extra pressure for many many reasons, Shakib plays best aggressive and he plays his best cricket hands free, at #6 he can really accelerate our innings after the 25th over, a time where Bangladesh seems to slow down in Run Rate...

This lineup should solve the finisher problem assuming many things like Riyad, Rahim and Nafees carry on their DPL form. and Ashraful contributes his quickfire 30-35 runs...again this is just theory! practice is whole another ballgame

don't see the wisdom of taking 4 pacers... We should stick with Shafiul (for pace) and Nazmul (for control).. and Rubel as a reserve option in case one of them gets injured.

We are never gonna play more than two pacers even if its a day night since we wouldnt know if we would win or lose the toss.

When our fourth option is somebody like Shahadat...it will be a complete waste of a spinner's slot... Shahadat is okay for tests...but honestly i think he is a short ball run leaking machine... every time he gets hit, his length goes even shorter... there is no thinking behind his bowling at all and he has no control...there will be one lose ball per over....
don't care if he has got 1000 wickets in the DPL... he should not be in an ODI squad imo...

Junaid Siddique, even though he has two fifties in the last series, even though he has three back to back fifties in DPL, all of them were very slow fifties, these types of innings will ensure we score around 220+ but they will not win us matches in world cup.

although, I would love to have Siddique in Test Squad

Raqibul Hasan: Similar Issue... although in the past he always maintained a healthy strike rate! what happened to him these days?

Both of them do accelerate later on in their innings, but what's the point when we have finishers who apply this role.(theoratically at least)

Shahadat is spontaneous, so that is no use, as you need more control in ODI's. I personally have not heard much of Shabbir. But from his gold medal winning knock, I loved the way he wouls always pump the fist which imo, shows he has the thirst for success. Also the way his eys lit up, cos he is a handsome lad, it showed positive intent *cough*Mahmadullah, Naeem*cough*...

Well zunaed can actually accelerate from the word go. We have seen it before. He did it against india when he had a 22 ball 41. Against zimbabwe last year he had some quick scores as well. The problem is he throws away his wicket quickly when he's on the 4th gear. He has the ability to play a lot of different type of innings.

Rock on the other hand is a slow starter. In all of his innings he starts very slowly and then at the end can accelerate. I haven't seen him come in and start hitting boundaries right away like our other batsmen. The problem with a slow starter like rock is that if he gets out early he ends up wasting a good amount of deliveries and not scoring too much and it puts pressure on the other batsmen to perform. That's why I feel iceman should come in at #4 since he's been in such good form these last 2 series.
