MY 11:

Tamim
Imrul
Raqibul
Mushfiq
Shakib
Naeem/Mahmudullah
Ashraful
Mortaza/Shuvo
Razzak
Shafiul
Rubel
Undoubtfully TIK & Imrul happens to be the opening pair. Both the batsmans should give a good start and should set up a good platform for the middle order.
Due to their recent performance in the domestic circuit I opted for Raqib & Mushfy for the 3 & 4 places respectively. Both these batsmans maintained consistency throuoght the tournament.so I opted for them
Shakib is the man at no 5.He should continue his recent form.Needs to improve with his bowling
Naeem performance in the recent matches is good & he proved he is good lower middle order batsman rather than powerful hitter.A handy spinner too
Ashraful in his new role "THE FINISHER" and he should prove his capability. Also handy with his spin
Mortaza if fit ,deserves the spot otherwise shuvo who is a good spinner and a brilliant fielder
Razzak the main spinner should be used as a lethal weapon during powerplays. He should continue the form where he left in NZ series
Shafiul & Rubel are the speedsters. They bowled really well during the NZ series. But still a lot of areas to improve .Should mix up the deleveries ,change pace, use slow bouncers, varies length and use BUTTERFLY EFFECT.hey guys i want to know what is butterfly effect.

EXPECTATIONS:
1.Atleast one century from any one among top 4 OR two half centurions from top 6
2.Should past 280+ if bat first OR restrict ZIM within 240 if bowl first
3.Don't get bundled out if bat first OR try to bundleout ZIM ,if bowl first
4.Atleast 2 bowlers should get 3 wickets

Tamim
Imrul
Junaid
Sakib
Mushy
Mahmudullah
Ash
Shuvo
Mash
Razzaq
Shafi/ Rubel (probably rubel as we need someone with speed to balance out with mash)

at least one century. Zim is very aggressive, so a handy score is a must. I kinda hope we bowl first and restrict them under 200. Its our bowlers game (specially spinners) they should run through the ZIM XI

I think this is the way to go. Naeem NEEDS to be given a series or two in the topish order. It will undoubtedly pay dividends.

I'm still against Ash although he had good performance in recent domestic. You may look at his scrores against B or C grade bowlers of Afghan and SL in the Asiad. He was more a bowler than a batsman in the team. His performance brings instability to the team as a whole. Those days are over when Ash will scrore a 50 in a year and we will dance around it the whole year.

^^ Is it? Doesn't matter how many Hundreds Tamim hits, Ash's odd 50 yet causes more drama in BC.

Yes, you are correct. We look at his 50 as 500. Moreover we count his 50s and 100s only, we never count his average. Those days are gone when Ash was the key player among Javed Omar, Rajin Saleh, Bashar, Kapali, Sanaur et al. He used to bring stability playing 5 overs when SL could take 3 wickets in first over.

@roman--- thanks for the picture, great stuff

to me shuvo looks like irish countrymen with full beard.

wonderful thread Obayed bhai

well, I am a bit skeptic about our Batting:the key to success for us in the world cup and beyond...*
I would call this tour a failure if we fail to cross 300 at least once.(we have 5 tries, best of luck )

I mean, if you can't do it against Zimbabwe, then against whom else can you expect to cross it against? Zimbabwe, a team supposedly we know a lot about(as they know a lot about us too) shouldn't be too hard, their bowling attack isn't something to lose sleep over either.

if not 300,when was the last time we scored above 280 in an international ODI? the last time i remember was back against India when Mahmudullah was on superb form.

*assuming bowlers + fielders continue the amazing momentum.

BCB should get credit where it is due, BCB has done a fantastic job hiring two wonderful coaches(Pont and Fountain), i wish they were/become full time.

Rifat's select XI:

1. Tamim
2. Kayes
3. MahmudUllah
4. Rakibul Hasan
5. Shakib
6. Mushfiqur Rahim
7. Ashraful
8. Mortaza
9. SunnahMan
10. Razzak
11. Rubel

wanted to put in there but no space: Junaed, Shafiul, Naeem, Nazmul

Note: BCB/Team management should carefully lay out slot positions #6-#8...these positions are the ideal finisher position and before world cup this series is the ideal experiment to sort this minor technical problem. Remember, in cricket minor technical issues, once resolved, has MAJOR consequences/impacts, many instances in international cricket we have seen so many players upgraded their cricket careers by fixing minor technical issues.

for starters:

Junaed Siddique has a terrible backlift(correct me if i am wrong)
Shahriar Nafees is not good against the moving new ball(again, correct me if i am wrong).

these two can also upgrade their careers by fixing errors of their own.

I would rather bat first. we need to move beyond the 240 era, and expand that goal to 270+, otherwise, I think we will struggle in the upcoming world cup against any team.
