BDFlag Should Shakib have his knee operation now?

Should Shakib skip in Champions league and have his knee operation done. So he could recover before the West Indies series in November.
Or may be have it after the series and skip BPL T-20 and since we don't have any international series between end of December to end of February, he will recover before Sri Lanka series.

Question is how long will it take to recover?

fair thing to discuss IMO. Nadim has the most imp question...its clear he has to have the surgery, but how long will the recovery take is the only issue. Is he having athroscopic surgery with micro-incisions or more traditional surgery? Since he doesn't seem to be debilitated as is, the surgery is most likely minor and recovery time should only be a matter of weeks and not months. If its not affecting him too much (doesn't look like it) and there is no major risk of aggravating it, he should wait till after WI series. thats a very important series and he shouldn't risk not recovering in time so long as the ailment isn't crippling - which judging from his 84 and bowling today doesn't appear to be so bad.

If he doesn't feel it's any problem, but if the doctors suggest on theor observation..I would recommend him to wait. If you can hit 84 in a T20 why should he go for an operation?? That problem (identified by docs) may be natural to him.... I think he should wait untill he faces problem...premature operations specially in knees can make it worse, I'm a sufferer of that myself...

Dont you guys think BCB took too long to decide whether Rubel should have his shoulder surgery. Leaving it too late for Shakib may aggravate his injury even more.

Its not his batting, its his bowling and fielding which will be effected in the long run.

I think he won't, and Hence if he performs badly on Pitch, the fans + Team management will use the Injury Excuse. I think Graeme Swann also plays with injury. To be honest, He can play but why put to much pressure on him to bowl so many overs without having specialist 5th bowler?

Is it injury, fatigue or is he really out of touch with the ball. Its been a while since he has done well with the ball. Whats the impact of Saqlain Mushtaq? Might as well have Salahuddin guiding the spinners-who was our original mentor for spinners.

Well, Shak ruled the operation himself. So don't think its the knee injury troubling him but there is something. His body language has been so poor. Even worse than riyad

Agree what is happening to this promising cricketers...i thought he was different! He can't get away with talent label all the time otherwise he will end up in in the "Sirs" list. No question about his committment or dedication for country ahead of anything, but all those emotional talk doesn't buy you anything, if you do not work hard you you won't prosper in this game, especially in intl cricket levels.

Whenever the doctor says is the best time to do it. It should not be his/team management's/fans decision.

that is quite applicable for the BD thinktank, they shouldve asked the players to settle today and play with freedom tomorrow morning when they will be fresh

Today our batsman came out to bat after 5 sessions of fielding, think about the pressure!

also, why did they picked junaid? This guy is worse than raina when it comes to short bowling

Default Bump

Shakib can play today

“He can play the match if he wishes as he has fully recovered from the hamstring injury but we want to be a hundred per cent sure about his old shin bone injury. We are reviewing everything because Shakib is complaining about the shin bone problem. We want to be very careful because the Sri Lanka tour is knocking on the door. A bone scan will be held tomorrow and we can be clear about everything after getting the report,” said Debashish.

Shakib Al Hasan had missed the one-day series against West Indies in November-December last year after being diagnosed with a shin injury.

Also, I think Internet polls should replace the justice system in its entirety.

Wasn't this break for his marriage...?

He should have operated then. He would be fir or SL series. Now I think he will either miss or won't be able to give his 100% ...could be dangerous for him to ignore it further.

Why does he need to play in BPL and deteriorate his health condition further when he is already in doubt for next International tours ? BCB should come forward and ask Shakib whether he feels to play or not. Oh wait, i forgot, BCB and BPL are the same. Anyway, don't bother. Do play in BPL and skip SL/Zim tour and have a good time with dew.
