President Bush (PB): I want you kids to define tragedy for me.
Little Boy: A tragedy is when a little boy on a farm gets run over and killed by a tractor.
PB: No, although a good answer, that is what we would call an accident. Anyone else knows what an example of a tragedy would be?
Little Boy 2: I know, Iknow. A tragedy would be if a school bus full of children would veered off the road and killed all 50 children.
PB: No, although a good answer, that is what we would call a great loss.
The room goes silent.
PB: Doesn't anyone know what a tragedy would be?
Little Jonny in the back of the room is waving his hand wildly.
PB: Little Jonny, what would be a tragedy.
Little Jonny. A tragedy, Mr. President, would be if President Bush and Mrs. Bush were flying on Air Force 1 and got shot down and killed by friendly fire.
PB: Wow, Little Jonny, how impressive. That, indeed, would be a great tragedy. And why, Little Jonny, would that be a great tragedy.
Little Jonny: Well, Mr. President, because it certainly would be a great loss, and definitely wouldn't be an accident.
