Its a very crappy provisional squad, some good players missing like nafis iqbal, mithun, shuvo etc.

Shaghir Hossain is a good wicket keeper. Much much better than Mushy. He was supposed be the next WK after Mashud but his poor form with the bat kept him out. Good to see him in the squad now!

He has made a century few days earlier against MCA. He will play the Tests for sure

I doubt he will get a game. Mushfique with his test batting capabilties is good enough to be solely selected as a Batsman . Keeping is a bonus. Brininging in Shagir Hossain would mean sacrificing a regular bowler/Batsman.

In terms of the pace bowlers.

Test Matches

3 and/or 4 seam attack
Mortaza, Shahadat, Rubel or Robin [Mahbubul Alam]

ODI

3 and/or 4 seam attack
Nazmul Hossain, Mortaza, Syed Rasel and/or Rubel

I would strongly suggest a heavy seam attack, as these days our spinners are lacking

Shakib (No.1 allrounder...enough said)

Razzak (past stats behind him- but this is limited to one days)
Enamul Haque (hasnt done anything of note-incl. his mahastra stint)
Mehrab Jnr (Decent player considering he also bats, but nothing extra-ordinary)
Riyad (Decent Player considering he also bats, though is he ready for tests)
Naeem Islam (ODI player and only useful for support)

I hope Sagir gets to play during the ODIs instead of Mushy, as for test Mushy gets the nod for his solid batting.

Mushi can take the place of a batsman in test, he is really pathetic as a WK.

NI and shuvo missing, mithun was there for his hard hitting mainly, they went with more of a gloveman to back-up in this series due to the tests i guess. sajidul not there either, guess all that talk about having him in mind for tests was just talk. can't believe shuvo isn't there, they're not giving him any incentive to continue to perform. imrul made it in ahead of NI, NI has been the better player this last year though so tis a bit strange.

yep, mushy can play as a specialist batsman in tests, the preferable option should be to play him as a batsman and get a good keeper behind the stumps.

yeah, NI deserves a spot at least as much as imrul. shuvo should keep working hard. aussies and indians have tons of domestic players average 50 with the bat and 20 with the ball and never get a test cap. no shortage of motivation there. that should be the case with shuvo, his time will come. if razzaq continues to be crap, and riyad doesn't prove his worth, shuvo will be there.

2-0, 5,0 1,0 by the West Indies. Can't wait to see Edwards teach our murokho players a lesson. Hope Edwards make Ashraful blind for life. Go Edwards Go!!!
I am quite certain that Bangladesh won't be able to reach 200 in both innings. Our bowlers will make sure Jerome Taylor makes his first 200 just like Jason Gilespie.
I want West Indies to clean sweep Bangladesh so that Ashraful resign of shame!! Oh wait he won't as he is still saying he played a Captain's knock in World T20. Lol Ash is such a pathetic loser

riyad is really more of a batsman, i consider him a batsman who can bowl a bit. as for motivation i was using my words carefully, there would still be motivation as long as he wants to make the national team but even in australia the selectors give players incentives to let them know that they're being thought of, shuvo has seen none of that. also this is a different situaiton to australia, in australia it's normal for a player to player for 5+ years and perform that long before getting a call, in BD if a player performs for more than a couple of years and doesn't get a call it's a bit odd since the selectors are always bringing in players especially young guys. at this point shuvo is watching lots of other players get a call but not him so surely he'd be thinking why not? i hope one of the selectors has explained to him why he hasn't got a call yet.

Gowza already explained my stand. I am not much surprised to see this kind of immature selection. I really don't expect much from this kinda crappy management.

BTW, is there any selection process to become a selector?

I have it the other way! I reckon Riyad is a big suspect against pace bowling. He looked very uncomfortable against the quicks.

Right now he is just a bits and bobs player. If he tightens up his batting against the quicks he definitely has the potential to become a genuine allrounder.

I actually thought it was a good selection barring Ashdafools inclusion. Perhaps, they could have included Shuvo.

I dont think Nafis Iqbal warrant a place as yet. He needs to play more domestic and prove his fitness and consistency.

Mohammad Ashraful, Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique, Raqibul Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Naeem Islam, Abdur Razzak, Shahadat Hossain, Syed Rasel, Mahmudullah, Rubel Hossain, Shamsur Rahman, Mehrab Hossain jnr, Imrul Kayes, Nazmul Hossain, Mahbubul Alam, Enamul Haque jnr, Shahagir Hossain

not a bad selection.
out of this 20, i think 5 will be dropped, unless we take 16 players.

my selection

tamim
junaed (imrul kayes)
rokibul
ashraful
sakib
mehrab jr
mushfiq rahim (sahagir Hossain)
nayeem islam
mashrafe mortaza
shahadat Hossain
rubel hossain

extra 4: imrul kayes (extra opener), sahagir hossain (for ODI and 20/20) mahmudullah riad (all rounder), enamul haq jr/mahbubul alam/najmul hossain (depend on pitch and west indies condition)

3 miss out for sure; syed rasel, abdur razzaq, shamsur rahman (though i dont mind to see him instead of imrul kayes in the team)

so only mithun ali is dropped, good decision. now it will take long time for him to get another chance.

in the line

mushfiq rahim
sahagir hossain pavel
then dhiman ghosh
then mithun ali (i wanna consider him only in 20/20)

I think the best keeper should play who will not drop catches and will not miss stumpings.
Even he scores pair of ducks if test match. Its 1000 times important to take catches or stumpings than scoring runs
