A proper biryani is either with beef or mutton. Anything else and you are really making a fool of yourself and the biryani!

Biryani meat is supposed to soft and not gamey. a duck biryani won't be nice to eat. On the other hand I had a duck pilaf.

My friends baburchi artistically kept the duck hole with its stomach cut open where he stuffed the pilaf rice. Quite nice really but not as good as a biryani

My local pakistani restaurant here makes both of those biryanis. I only had the chicken, and it was too dry- the meat.

I wanted to ask them what other kind of biryani they make.

Their chicken jalfreezi is sumptuous

Ask them to do a mutton biryani with green chillies and fried onions and corriander garnish. I don't like Chicken biryani .in Bangladesh it's normally chicken with white pilaf.

The best biryani is kachi as many have vouched for

I will do that next time I visit their establishment.

I once had a biryani with goat, it was one of the best I had. From a BD restaurant in Queens.

I think they called it Haji
Or kachi?

A lot of people outside Bangladesh call goat biryani kachi. So you would have had goat.

Haji is a name of famous chef in old Dhaka who makes a special biryani packed in leaves

^Before the edit I was thinking what could necessarily be a boat biriyani?

Anybody has any suggestions on best Biriyani places in NYC. Not that I need one as my uncle in J. Heights cooks one of the best Biriyani with mutton.

It could be good. I lived in both JH and Jamaica and tried a lot of different food but never needed to explore Biriyani.

Some of the best biryani I had this year was at the mosque Allhamdullilah during Ramadan. On some days the local Pakistani restaurant supplied the biryani and they made it special for the iftar and very spicy not like the normal biryani they serve.

I had Biriyani from Darul Kabab in Cambridge which is excellent - BD chef.
Try it when you are here around New England.
