I think Hasina has become quite unpopular with the students apart from her own goons in BCL.

After so much protests only little impact will it have though sadly.

Fact

“We are in the process to identify all those who spread rumours in the social media and incited violence,” Bangladesh’s home affairs minister, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, said on Wednesday. “None will be spared, be they students, teachers or political leaders.”

Expectation

“We are in the process to identify all those who caused road accidents to date and patronize disarray and misappropriation in this sector,” Bangladesh’s home affairs minister, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, said on Wednesday. “None will be spared, be they owners, drivers, syndicate, trade union leaders.”

I think if there is a free and fair election (highly unlikely) than AL would loose with a bigger margin than the way BNP lost in 2009...

I wish there was a way that the Caretaker Govt that took power in 2007 would again run the county but this time for atleast a decade and would get the international recognition to rule the country. However that will never happen.

This BNP/Jamaat- AL cycle needs to stop.. they all tried and failed massively.

Only good thing Hasina did was curb the fundamentalists! If we had Jamaat in power we would have A lot of killings like they do in Pakistan

Not entirely true. I am a big supporter of a secular society (something that AL preached once upon a time). The New AL made a lot of friends inside the fundamentalist circle. Not to mention that they made pals with Hafazot (bunch of backward idiots) and they recognised Kawmi Madrassah ( and unlike Alia madrassah, govt has no control over the curriculum of these Kawmi madrasahs, infact most of them dont even teach kids the national anthem).

BNP also curbed fundamentalism when they were forced to by Bangla bhai and their gangs.

The success of AL has been in the agriculture (fisheries included) sector. We have had bumper crop production everytime AL came to power and Matia chowdhury was in charge of Agriculture ministry. The other success includes Power production , urban development (although debatable) and growth of export and local manufacturing industry.

Some points I could agree but there are quite a few I am not convinced with. Agro production increases could also be coincidental as it depends on weather, flooding etc . Hasina might be able to intimidate young school kids but I doubt she has the power to force seeds to bloom.

Squashing jamaat (due to political and PR support) was one of her biggest achievements if any. The Bangla Bhai thing was minor compared to that.

You mentioned growth of exports which is ok but thats half of the story. Since last year balance of trade has dipped to its lowest point since the last 10 years which is very worrying.

Not the right topic to discuss in this thread. Anyways, AL provided lot of incentives to farmers to ensure they do not make losses on the crops they produce. They allowed interest free loans to farmers including small loans. The agricultural department was tasked to provide training to farmers (even in the remotest areas) and supply the right seeds, pesticides and provide fertilizers at subsidized rate.
The fertilizer production was a major issue as it was directly tied to power production, Govt prioritized uninterrupted power supply to fertilizer plants even when our power production was less than 4000MW. A 14 year worth of data (1996-2001) and (2009-Now) is sufficient to rule out luck.

If its not the right topic then why are you still discussing it

Are Interest free loans to farmers mutally exclusive to AL? Isnt the agricultural departments task to provide training to farmers prior to AL coming into power? Anyways still not convinced on agro production bit.

Also you forgot the other points that I raised which I am guessing you either agree to or using the this is not the right topic to discuss in this thread

A place where students are beaten up and roads aren’t safe, no wonder Dhaka is one of the worst liveable city in the world

Student deaths becoming regular case. Now for one brave soul who stood to protect his friend

https://www.thedailystar.net/news/ci...emands-1626655

And then this poor baby girl had to die. There is a video of this online. Partly the Mother to blame as even before she reached the bus she was crossing the road dangerously. But bus driver and conductor should take most of the blame.
