I feel like in a few years time no one will be using a dslr. These things are heavy. I have a normal Canon 750D and I get tired carrying it and pass it to my brother when traveling so, I can't imagine how photographers carry all those lenses and camera parts around with them everywhere.

In terms of phones dedicated to just photography, I think Oppo has kind of already started that trend advertising their phones as "camera phone". I'd say iphoneX has kind of done the same.

I have no knowledge of photography but I love it. I do remember vaguely Puck's thread and from memory, BC has a lot of great photographers.

I started an instagram page sharing my amateur 'photography' which has now slowly become a typical instagram page of me, myself and I -_-. But, it's only when you explore a platform such as instagram and flickr, that you realise the numerous forms of photography that exists.

I have canon 80D. So not full frame but still with right lens one can take great pictures.

My problem is I don't like carry heavy stuff. I prefer travelling as light as possible.

That's why cell phone camera is more convenient than one realize.

I am going to few cities of Russia this summer and I am very hesitent to take my camera as it will become a burden for me i think even though I can capture some relatively (for me atleast) great shots with my dslr as compare to a cell phone.

Actually now that I think about it.. I don't like taking pictures at all when travelling...makes me look retarded.

that is not true. NOt all camera can capture the data some of these dslr raw files can capture. sure a good cameraman can playaround with the light source and come up with better pictures than someone with comparable camera.. but with right lens and right camera - a novice can get better pictures in my opinion than some photographer with a one time kodak camera.

A lot of it is the right equipment and software. And then the vision.

hurry up!! it's only been more than 5 months since you last wrote you wanted dslr 7000 series. Why don't you have it already? There is no excuse specially if you are saying you are an enthusiast.

I am trying to encourage you. Next picture you post in this thread better be from a DSLR and soon.

Even buy something from ebay used... they have great lens and camera for cheap. Look at the quality of shehwar's pictures (even though he is using a 3000 dollars camera). You are in the same thread as him - you gotta bring similar quality..

Stop wasting time in this site. Really.

Hehe yeah. I'm close to getting a cheap Nikon D3300.

Nothing special about it.
Next photo I post up here will be that camera.

Having said that my pictures via dslr comes out great occsionally. But more importantly each pictures are very crisp.

I will share once I become better than most here. My pictures aren't ready for public consumption. And I mostly take pics of ppl I know - so that's inappropriate share here.

you can do a lot with d3300 also. i have a friend who posts great crative pics who use nikons entry level camera.

:

There are a lot of different cameras in the market now a days that could take wonderful image, but if you wants a lighter camera, I think Sony is the best option...

And the best choice is:

Sony a7III is a mirrorless Ful Frame camera wich is one of the best camera ever made until today - 673 AF focus points with 93% viewfinder coverage, 425 Af contrast points and magical eye-AF and the sensor is back illuminated Exmor R CMOS 24 MP sensor - it is indeed the low light king - you can even take pictures in dark!

For photography, gear is not the #1 thing, but:

Subject -> story telling
Perspective
Light
Composition
Techinique
and so on...

Also, post-processing is a BIG thing now a days too. I use Adobe Lightroom (Lr) as I always take pictures in RAW.

DinRaat seems interested in Macro Photography, so do I! Here is one of my most recent macro:

Camera: Sony a77 -APS-C camera
Lens: Sony Macro 50mm 2.8
ISO:100
Aperture: F4, 1/1000 Seconds

Please click on the photo to see the image in large

The Nikon D3300 has really good reviews. Three particularly good lenses that go with it are the 55-200, 15-55, and just plain 15mm.
I like the versatility there.

I guess practice makes perfect, and knowledge of the various features that which the camera provides is absolutely essential.
Some people use photoshop alot to enhance their pictures. Also, instagram's filters are ideal too, I think Shehwar make use of those resources. I really admire his photos.

Kalpurush is also a good photographer. Hopefully they can impart some knowledge to us lol

Which one (camera) you have?

A compliment from dear old Orphey!

Lr is not difficult at all. You can give a free try ...
https://www.adobe.com/ca/products/ph...-download.html

Lighroom is the BEST RAW /Photo processing software IMHO. It is also a photo organizer.

Here is two of the world's best LR trainer:

-> Serge Ramelli
https://www.youtube.com/user/cmoeu

-> Ed @ Photos In Color
https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...hotos+in+color

Try from the beginning...it's fun and enjoyable. Both are wonderfully good at LR, also Photoshop.

A good camera and the lens is one of the best in the market.

1.4 lens works best if you tune in manually, most of the time anyway.

If you ever buy a Full frame dSLR, try the Sony a7III - Sony intentionally lowered the price to bash Canon & Nikon - the best camera you can buy @ $2,000 - it is better then even a $6,000 CaNikon cameras in most cases - eye-AF, low light, focus peaking, in-body image stabilization are some of the features to name ... and it has one of the best sensor currently available in the market.

Also, Somy is making TOP class lenses now with G-Master branding which are good upto 150 mega pixels. On the other hand, CaNikon lenses are good but not suitable for high megapixels.

Also, Carl Zeiss makes fantastic lenses for Sony mirrorless cameras - you would be blown away once you use these lenses...
