Tiger Squad vs. the Lankan Lions
2013! It's been a long time we are playing defensive, result = not so impressive.
Now, it's time to go all-offensive, taking the Tigers in new heights that would boost not only their confidence but help them create a mind-set to perform in a consistent basis.
To start the year on a positive note, let's choose the squad wisely. We do have a wonderful pool of players, what we need is select them according to the format of the game. Here's my three formats of players as below:
Test:
Tamim
Anamul
Mushy
Mullah
Mominul
Shakib
Naeem
Nasir
Shafiul
Rubel
Gazi
12. Sunny, 13. Abul, 14. Nafees
ODI:
Tamim
Anamul
Shakib
Mushy
Mullah
Mominul
Nasir
Zia
Mash
Razzak /Nazmul
Gazi
12. Shafiul, 13. Abul, 14. Farhad
T20:
Tamim
Ash
Anamul
Shakib
Mushy
Nasir
Zia
Shabbir
Mash
Gazi
Razzak
12. Mullh, 13. Marshal, 14. Nazimuddin
Let's start 2013 in a positive mindset, select the team according to our player's talent, skill and the right format accordingly. Choosing the right combo is so important which determines the outcome even before the match starts IMHO.

why are these chaps in the team, bro? Hom...Hindu tokenism (as you have thing for the minority)? Rumman...must be those eyes?
AND, no REX in the ODI !!!
Like your your Test side, though. Abul should be given a proper run and Enamul will bolster the spin options. Sunny could be equally good. Though, he has been a little scrappy of late.

No tokenism here. I'd have opted for Hom and Rumman even if Hom were a Wahabi Islamist and Rumman had neon pink eyes. Both have genuine ability and will add considerable stability, punch and depth to our ODI batting. Not including Rex was a difficult decision but with Gazi in the team and Shakib back, I opted for an extra batsman who can bowl when given the chance (Rumman). Nasir too can be effective with the ball.

Sure the young lads are promising but I dont think they have done enough to warrant a place yet. Hom has been -to be honest -utterly hopeless so far (NCL/BCL). Don't know much what Shabbir has done. Beside, I'm not one for mass-change in a short time when the national side is concerned. Need to maintain young/experienced balance and team cohesion.
One simply can't bench someone like Abdur Razzak who has almost 200 ODI wickets at just over 27 runs a peice. That would be a blunder of huge proportion! Three prong spin attack worked for us before. Why not now? Anyway, if you want an extra bat then go for a specialist batter. We have plenty of "allrounders" (bits n pieces) in the side as it is. Again, bits and pieces players might be a stop gap measure only. In serious cricket you gotta pick your batters for batting only and your bowlers for bowling only. One good allrounder is enopugh and at maximum two are more than necessary.
Offtopic- not quite "neon pink" but 'Neon Golden' album. Check it in the What you're listening thread. One of the best albums in the last few years, in my not so humble opinion. You might like it.

I think the hype of Raju will come down pretty quickly. I fear he's just another one hit wonder.

I honestly feel there's a lot more to him than that
Mominul Haque Shourobh is the real concern for me. I doubt he'll make it at this level but pray to GOD that he proves me wrong. That being said, he's still better than many of the guys from the previous generation who have been given quite a few chances.

Yeah I'm a bit worried of Momin too, but he seems like a gritty middle order batsman a la Shakib, scoring crucial runs under pressure. Won't expect big tons from him, but might be reasonably consistent, scoring 50's and the occasional tons. I hope he improves on that and his temperament.

I think Mominul can be a stop gap solution at least. He might not be amazing, but I think he has the potential to develop into a very handy batsman. Mental strength and an academic understanding of what to do when is essential if your technique is half decent. His batting looks quite a bit more compact than Shakib and Nasir's.
I'm more appalled by Anamul/Enamul's atrocious footwork and hope it was due to the jitters of his first series. I cannot fathom how that bat-pad gap allowed him to score even at our NCL level - although I guess if Elias Sunny can score centuries then anyone can - or how he top scored at the U-19 world cup Down Under. I really pray he tightens his technique against pace, because he's a pretty good hitter/stroker of a cricket ball.

^Except that he scored overseas in Aus too. He needs to work on his footwork, but it isn't appaling - I feel people are overemphasizing the no-foot-movement part. he compensates well with hand eye co-ordination, decent shot selection and balance. Working on his footwork is a must, since that'd make him even classier player, and help him to have a longer career.

I did mention that he dominated in AUS.
However, his footwork was atrocious. It made everyone from Javed Omar and Imrul Kayes to Sehwag and Chanderpaul look copybook. I'll have no problems if he scores runs against a variety of top ranking bowlers in a variety of countries. But from what I saw, a top class bowler like Philander would have had him out before he could pad up.
I'm one of his biggest fans, just in case you didn't already know. This is an honest constructive criticism. I really want him to not just do well, but to excel. I just thought his technique was loads better than what we saw.

From what I have seen, the boy has the right temperament, but his technique is a bit flawed. I'll take this than the other way around. I think he has a fair shot at being good.

Technique a bit flawed? Tbh footwork is good. Balance is good. Drives well, relatively compact and plays the short ball well. I cant ask for more tbh. IMO he just needs to clear the nerves and fix his temperament up. He will go good.

The problem being he didn't 'hit' at all, considering his primary role is of a strike bowler. I won't read too much into his ton.

It could go both ways. If he can learn to do make the ball "talk," he could become a dangerous bowler. Otherwise, he will be another one who could bowl comparatively fast, but ineffective.

No need for much changes.
Bring in Anamul, Mominul and Sunny in the test squad and get rid of SN, Nazim and Zunaed.
ODI team alright.
T20 team alright.

any news about India considering to host us? They are being thrashed by Pakistan, which goes to show that they are in a tough position. A series with BD will help both sides

Nazmul's medium pace would be much handy compared to Rubel's.

Good squad by Kalpurush! Totally Agree.
Shakib should be replacing Mushy as the Captain in all 3 formats.
