Dear Test Cricket
Okay, I figure we need a thread to give us a break from BD's current woes for a bit. So here it is a little bit of humor:
Dear Test Cricket,
I remember the day we first met. A great man named Richard Hadlee introduced me to you. I fell in love with you and stayed true to you through out the years. Even with the temptations of your younger sister One Day Cricket, who constantly tempted me, I never strayed away from you. Sure I enjoyed her presence and handled her with the look but don’t touch approach, but you were always the one for me.
Now however, I am leaving you for another. Her name is T20 and she is younger, vibrant and much more fun to be around. It started as innocent flirting but recently it has become more than that. I still respect you for what you are but its just that its not working out between us. I am older and more busy and I don’t have the time to spare that you so desperately need of me.
Its just that in the past 29 years I’ve known you, you haven’t changed. And that’s a bad thing because everything else has. You still hold on to old school values and expect me to conform that is just not logical in today’s age. I still admire you for your integrity and still find you beautiful but I just don’t see us being together as strongly as we once were.
T20 understands my needs and fulfills me. I only have so much time to spare for cricket and she understands that. I hope you understand. I’ll still love you from afar but for us to be together like before simply can not be.
Lovingly
Your Ex

ODI is the best format IMO...not too long not too short. When a player like Brett Lee has 12 econ it really tells you much about the game.

T20 will kill ODI's not Test cricket .
Test cricket will continue to remain the ultimate test which all players will look to play.
I guess T20 will make ODI's redundant , and I agree to that (though reluctantly).ODI is nether here nor their .."nah ghar ka na ghat ka" !

Yup Twenty20 cricket will only affect ODI's. Twenty20 is basically an ODI without the boring middle overs.

don't hate t20s as much as i used to, but i'm not a fan.
tests rule, and ODIs were my first love so i stay true to it. plus it has more classicism about it than t20s.

Ask Ireland to play a Test against us in Ireland, I want to see the result. Test Cricket is the ultimate expression of Cricket skill. No doubt about that.

T20 is nothing but idiotic display of cricket...

I don't think anyone will dispute that Test cricket is the ultimate to display cricketing skills. My point is that in its current format (the bi lateral concept) it can not survive much longer. What happens when ZIM comes back? When IRE demands the status? Do you think you can schedule in all these series'? Test results mean nothing. WI played a two game series with ENG where they basically stood around arms folded during the game.
ICC is unable to force ENG, AUS and IND to host countries like BD. NZ and SL only get two games when they play those teams.
Unless sweeping changes are made RIP Test cricket.

Many teams now dont want to play test cricket, it seems 20/20 is here to stay and will be expanded to more tournaments. To besides the spectators can afford to spend 4 hours watching a game, a lot feel that the 50 over game will stay or will be whittled down to 40 overs.
The ICC is looking at the whole picture and they know that they have to adapt to changes.
